When I heard about Lucinda's suspension, I was going to suggest that we start a thread to keep count of SBVM members that get suspended or eventually banned. Now I see Not Banned Yet's page is wiped, and have to search around to find out that he's suspended, and Col. Sellers too!
If you hear about anything major happening to SBVM members, please post it here so we don't have to search very far. Also, for the record, it might be amusing if current SBVM remind each other what our virtually criminal records are.
I was given an official warning a few months ago for posting a protest on DNA's welcome page (around the time of the UK General Election).
[Please don't feel afraid to let it all hang out here at A-AA. Just step up to the podium, remember that everything is confidential here, no need for last names, and say, "My name is Deidzoeb and I'm anti-authoritarian."]

a girl called Ben Posted Nov 14, 2001
My name is Ben, and I am sometimes an anarchist.
Check out my homepage - most of what has happened is written up there...

My name is Tube.
I am rarely an anarchist. But I question decisions.

Hi, I'm rob, and I've always thought anarchy was a little too structured...

GTBacchus Posted Nov 16, 2001
I agree Rob. All those rules - like the one about not having any rules. Stifling. (And the one about not having stolen that joke from the Principia Discordia )
Hi, I'm GTBacchus and.. hey! what's that? Over there!

I'm really a KGB agent, okay... so not really. I actually work for the [Post edited at the request of the author]. No... they're not buying it... s**t. Er, I'm a Management Consultant and Dogbert is my IDOL, so naturally I expect to be first up against the wall, facing you guys as the fusillade, when the revolution comes (unless I can sneak out the back way and give those Management sods what-for. Shh. I'm Labour, but don't let on.) My parents were dyed-in-the-wool -- they weren't made of wool, so I'm not sure how they managed that -- Tories . I'm a gone-to-seed hippie who sort of has to work from time to time and pushing managers around for a high fee has a certain charm.
I make things up, too.
Obscurely,

You two are perhaps inadvertantly testing my new theory: that any mention of h2g2 staff members by name could be interpreted as "too personal" or vaguely intending an insult. Haven't been moderated in 11 hours, but give it time, who knows.

Well, my mark is just a mark, not a bookmark ... but it's name is Mark, all the same ... there's more than one Mark here. Everything is not about *that* one!

Deidzoeb Posted Nov 20, 2001
I know what you mean, pillowcase, and most everyone here knows what you mean, but "meaning" and "intent" are lately not enough to prevent moderation or worse. Anything that could possibly be misinterpreted as offensive may be grounds for censorship. If strings of XXX's can get you an official warning, then who knows what other innocuous nonsense phrases might be misinterpreted as potentially offensive? Lewis Caroll would have had trouble if he had attempted to coin words like "snickersnack" on h2g2. People who know about typewriters or old printing presses might joke about names like Qwert Yuiop or SHRDLU, but if a moderator or editor doesn't recognize an inside joke, or suspects that it's "code," then it could get a person warned or booted off h2g2.
I self-censor myself from writing more than three X's at a time in h2g2 posts lately, and now I'm reluctant to write the acronym for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals," and I'm not sure if it is still appropriate to mention the first name of the pseudonym of that dude who wrote Huckleberry Finn.

Deidzoeb Posted Nov 21, 2001
I thought MAD Magazine always spelled it SHRDLU, but I could be wrong.

Hoovooloo Posted Nov 21, 2001
I've always written it SHRDLU. Wasn't there an early AI called that too?
Also, has anyone noticed that the ranks of the SBVM seem to have shrunk?
H.
I've had a Warning, how about yoo?

Deidzoeb Posted Nov 22, 2001
ranks of the SBVM shrunk?
You mean people have consciously dropped out of SBVM or h2g2, or just that some people aren't as vocal as they once were?

GTBacchus Posted Nov 22, 2001
In an old collection of Pogo Possum comics that I found among my father's possessions, one of the little bugs in the margin once said "etaoin shrdlu", I guess, but I've been remembering it phonetically all these years: "eh-tao-in shurl-du", and I probably switched those letters because that's easier to pronounce than "eh-tao-in shrud-lu"
This will forever change the way I play hangman.

David Conway Posted Nov 22, 2001
Given current circumstances, I'm being a bit less vocal, for now. Having checked the scale and my waistline, I *can* verify that I haven't shrunk.
NOTE TO SELF: Never, ever log on from LeKZ's computer, even if mine is down.

Yes, I removed 'Silent Lucidity' from the list - it seemed like the sensible thing to do...
(shock story - Martin acting sensibly scandal - the press dubs it CommonSenseGate...)
