Kockens Citronpeppar
Milla, h2g2 Operations Posted Nov 9, 2005
About Citronpeppar, ask Ben (That's her name, not her initial)...
(Basically black coarse pepper, and lemon flavoured 'specks' plus some other stuff to make a good taste. Works on salad, fish, pasta...)
The excuse is for me... Should I spend money just to amuse myself? Noooo, I have to be good to someone, do a favour or something, to justify it!

Small jar I think. I wouldn't want to waste your luggage space.

I'll bring clean pants, toothbrush and citronpeppar... It'll fit!

This citronpeppar sounds magnificent! What is the 'other stuff' in it though?

I haven't the jar in front of me... but a sensible guess would be some salt, dried onion, anti-clumping agent... perhaps some other small amounts of spices. I'll have a look and let you know!

It sounds marvellous! Apart from 'anti-clumping agent' perhaps ...I suppose that's all cornflour is though?

CitronPeppar is amazing stuff. I even found myself thinking "shall I put it on porridge" the other morning. (I did conclude, "no, better not..." It goes on everything else though!
Your magnificent efforts Milla, and Titania's earlier in the year, means that I do currently have enough. Master B rather liked it though. If I get my email working again I'll ask him if he wants to place an order. It'll go round the houses, but he lives near enough to Birmingham for it to be doable.

I could do with some Citronpeppar, whilst I was living at work I managed to convert a colleage or two to the wonders of Knor Citronpeppar.

Right. Update on Citronpeppar front:
My local grocer has stopped selling that brand. So has the whole chain that they belong to. So, it seems, has the other major chain.
Looking glum, isn't it?
But last night, I found another chain that does indeed carry the brand. Of course they are out of Citronpeppar. It's a small 'emergency' store who have lots of sandwiches, salads, soft drinks, but very little 'real' food. But I talked to the cashier, he looked incredulous, and I placed an order of 6 jars for Friday... He promised dearly that it will be there in time, all I have to do is remember to pick them up!

Nonono! Only some food chains stop selling it! The (almost round the clock) store promised to get some home!!! And since it is Knorr owned now, perhaps you can persuade a store in UK to get it? Or your local asian specialty store?

Oh, good point!
Actually Milla, if you see any salty liquorice, could you pick me up a small bag, pretty please?

Osthyvel!
I'll find you salty licorice, Lucky Star!
I had another scare on the Citronpeppar front today... I called the 'almost round the clock' store, and the clerk said that indeed had he found Citronpeppar. Santa Maria. Not Kockens. Their chain doesn't sell Knorr either. But he gave me a tip where to look, and now I have 8 little jars to bring!
How much licorice should I bring you think? Couple of bags?

Oh 1 is plenty (unless they're really tiny...) I don't wnat to totally take up all your luggage space!
What's that osthyvel stuff then, is it anything like Icelandic pickled shark, which really is just vile ?
