I wouldn't know. I haven't got Night at the Opera.
I recommend the Live album. (the 'language' doesn't bother me, by the way, 5 years at secondary school have seen to that, I expect everyone else knows what I mean) Though I guess you're not missing a huge amount, I just listen to it for the laughs sometimes, like the warm up bit Freddie does with the audience before they do Under Pressure.

Oh yeah, and I was going to say. I don't know if any of you heard the cover Robbie Williams did of 'We are the Champions' it was realesed a while ago I think. I dunno about you lot, but I really didn't like it. To me, it was always Freddie's song, but that's just me. I thought Will did it well at the Party at the Palace though.

Will? Well? That song? Well? You have to be kidding! He was there more for the screaming girls and to show off his vocal ability (did you hear all the melismatics ( i think that's the word - I can't remember , it means decoration of music.. ) he was doing? Pah!)

Robbie Williams` version was fantastic compared to his, and if you care to read http://www.h2g2.com/a607033#news , you'll know my opinion on that anyway, although Williams isn't that bad in all.. (My opinion of Will Young and the Gareth Gates lot, who never write their own music, and when they do it sucks was pretty damaged before that..)

Okay. Well, I respect your opinion. smiley - smiley

Oh, by the way, just for the record, I don't go that much on either Gareth's or Will's songs, though Will has a good voice. I actually think Darius has done the best out of the lot, writing his own song, which actually has a decent, catchy-without-being-naff chorus, and I wish him well.

...Even though you're not all here at the moment I thought I'd ask this:
I'm trying to teach myself to play 'Love of My Life' (obviously on guitar) but at the moment its not going that well, as all I've got to go on is the recording from the Live at Wembley album. (I can't read guitar tabs and I can't find the chords in any music books). Anyone got any Queen website recommendations that might have the chords? At the moment I can't even work all of them out!

Thanks.

Kaz.

Yup - Although this is a tabs listing website, they usually (but not always) have chords accompanying them.

I have about 7 print-outs of chords from there. smiley - smiley

I'll have to figure out how to paste them into word in their proper format though.
I might also eventually work out how to read the tabs, though its got the chords as well!

I like that site - it seems to have a lot of chords on there smiley - smiley
I'm off to see if they have headlong on there, which is a favourite atm smiley - smiley (I can also desk-drum perfectly to it smiley - winkeye Maybe I should take up drumming? smiley - winkeye)

I just print 'em straight from MSIE smiley - winkeye What purpose are you going to use them for - just personal? If so, I'd just print them from the screen smiley - smiley

I couldn't you see, printer had no black ink, but it had lots of colour and I didn't want to waste it as they're quite expensive, but its ok now. And I've figured out how to read the tabs thanks to an article on h2g2!
Still having trouble though. I ought to get lessons really, since I don't know how to do proper guitar fingering, and as a result, I'm probably making life more difficult for myself.
Its a great song though.
Do you know if Freddie wrote it originally on piano, as I know he was a good pianist?
It was just a thought because I know he talks about his guitar on the live album, and says: 'It only knows three chords, but lets see how we go..' So it would appear that guitar wasn't really his thing. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think his first instrument was the piano, he seemed to be a fantastic pianist, but a more than average guitarist - Especially when it comes to learning the pieces he made... I just learnt Too much Love will Kill you (Brian May) in a few hours, and I'm still struggling with Death on two legs (Freddie) smiley - laugh

....Okay, i'll stop singing now. smiley - biggrin

Did you watch the greatest Britons last night?
I thought it was absolutely outrageous to have Boy George and David Bowie further up the list than Freddie Mercury.
What do you think?

Brian's guitar bit

Post 37

NPY

David Bowie I'll allow in, but Freddie should be higher than him
but what the heck's Boy George done?

Brian's guitar bit

Post 38

Dunno.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who disagreed.

Post 39

ok so maybe he's got a big gay following, but how the heck does that get him to be the 30 somethingth greatest briton?
