[Sharp]: "Hey Sir Jeff, - Mr. Tough Guy, -would either of you like to buy some potions/medicine/explosives?"

Tough guy's left already, Sir Jeff is so deaf he's not likely to hear you and King Michael ... well let's say "No Soliciting"
selling to the NPCs ... not that great of an idea ...
You folks can always just say your shop is "busy, and always crowded with busy customers" or "quiet with few customers" if you like, you know?

: Sure...and I s'ppose that attempting to sell things to the king or the princess,-out of context, would be like having a death-wish too, no ?
Silver Sword - The Sand Castle Ballroom
The Artist Formerly Known as Nerd42 Posted Oct 23, 2005
well, no not really ... it would be like getting in a long line of people waiting to petition the King and then when you get to the front, be ejected from the premesis like spam email gets deleted Nerd42

yeah i didn't quite get it, but then, some people think I'm humor-impaired

Thorn Posted Oct 25, 2005
: A person's sense of humor cannot be intuited/taken for granted? I suppose. What'll constitute it -I suspect varies from individual to individual, no?

Yeah. Lately I've become distracted working on this: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Uncyclopedia:Curse

[Sharp]: (thinks): 'but still, I think I would like to maybe one day meet this princess. Probably has a cruel sense of humor though... I suspect it (not quite sure just how though). Wonder what would make the king ? If I just tried things out until something worked,-Why then, I may find myself wound-up in the stocks... It might take too long, and in the mean time-there would be plenty of time for folks to get frustrated.'
*strolls int he hall*, pausing every once in awhile to look at paintings... some are portraits of the previous rulers and their relatives,-he supposes.
(Thinks): 'Hey wait a sec. The eyes in that one! Did they just move?! They were staring, and flitted to look at the corner then back again (At me?) and now they swapped for 'normal-ones' that 'match' the painting again'
"Okay, that's ."
*s a bit, then leaves*

Sir Jeff again enters the ball room.
*The King spots him*
[King Michael] Sir Jeffrey! What is your report?
[Sir Jeff] The undead was defeated, Sire *cough* by, *wheeze* by *wheeze* some ordinary heroes... *cough wheeze wheeze*
[King Michael] Ordinary heroes? Perhaps I ask them to join, or rather re-establish the Royal Guard Corps ....
[Sir Jeff] Sire, *cough* somebody *wheeze* needs to re-establish the Quavian Knights! I am old, tired and ill, and there is no way I can take on or train a Squire ... *wheeze* ... but these people ... *little coughs* ... these people can ... *cough cough wheeze* ... find the Lost Knights of Quavia and restore the Order! *wheeze*
[King Michael] *looks delighted* An excellent idea!
*Sir Jeff looks very ill, and collapses*
[King Michael] *looks very concerned* Are you all right, Sir Jeff?
*The old knight is lifted up by several other people*
[Sir Jeff] Yes, Your Majesty ... *three little coughs* ... I'll be all right ... *tries to take measured breaths* ... I won't die - yet, anyway. I can't. First I have to pass the torch on, on to someone who can take care of and look after the power of the Knights ... *coughing fit*
[King Michael] Sir Jeff, you seem very ill. You'd better not go outdoors feeling like that ...
[Sir Jeff] Noo!!! I must get *cough wheeze wheeze* to the Cathedral ... to start the heroes on their way ... *wheeze* ... then perhaps my work is done ... then I can rest.
Sir Jeff straightens up, casts his cane aside, and strides with dignity our of the castle. With a sense of pride, of ancient honor passed down from generation to generation, he manages to look once more like the brave strong Knight of his youth as he goes onward to his duty. Nerd42

[sharp]: "Why hello King Michael, why it's good to see ye." -not trying to sell things.
*: gets an idea.*
"I just got a few grand ideas for some counter-siege instruments from looking at your castle's wall-battlements by the way."
*The two blueprints that Sharp has put together are for a 'new-type' ballista and a trebuchet.*
"...Perhaps you would like to mayhap have a look at them sometime?,- perchance, persay..."
*wonders what the heck is about to happen next*

: Has Sharp gone too far perhaps, by daring to talk to the King w/out seeking an audience first? How does a character go about seeking an audience? Why am I asking? too many questions-Sheesh

Yes, if I were you, I'd post ahead beforehand saying I'm trying to see the King and make sure I'm not pushing ahead of anyone else or that I'm disreguarding instructions from servants. This time, however, I'll let that pass ...
[King Michael] Oh, really?
*The King seems interested, and strongly not mildly, but also shows no inclination to actually exaimine any blueprints*
[King Michael] *looking thoughtful* You know, typically at this point I'd refer you to the Captain of the Guard, but we don't have one at the moment. In fact, that position is open. "We're hiring" you might say ... and although that post is really meant for a Warrior, not a mage, would you be interested? Else, you can wait until there is an active Captain of the Guard or help me recruit one!

I said "I" too many times in that last post didn't I? Oh crap I did it again! And again!
I was trying to say you're supposed to have two options: either wait your turn or fight your way to the front by force. Both are viable alternatives, and both have consequences, be they good or bad.

[Sharp]: *politely declines offer #1 in favor of the latter* :
"Well, M'lord, I'm really more of a wandering journeyman expert @ black ... but I would be more than happy to help you folks in setting up any sort of say, -test- (say perhaps some kind of tricky obstacle course, a maze, and other "they-have-to-show quick wits and good skill,-to make the position kind of a thing)."

[Sharp]: "Think I'd be of best service, say in designing some sort of 'a Test.' "
*pays his respects (, etc.)*
"If'n yer ever in need of some sort of an inventor though..."
