I think there should be a nodding smiley. This would allow people to show they agree, but without having to say anything. I'm sure people have more than enough talent to produce this.

That's more of a nodding off smiley! 
It's not hard to do a smiley which nods (or shakes its head). I already have one. However, animated smileys can become very annoying, very quickly. Jim Lynn said he wouldn't even have let the old disco one through if he'd noticed in time and had a veto! It really should be adequate to post a comment/action in brackets of some sort (even in smiley format) just like other people do.
So use if you hope that it will be automatically transformed into a smiley one day (there are lots of words idling around like that!).
Or use {nods}, which is my preferred commentary form, or some other delimiter which suits you. Eg some other people would use *nods* for an action, but to me that's the bold delimiter from the old message boards.
