help for a southern traveller?

i'm hoping someone might be able to help me
the middle of next month i'll be making an overnight trip to chattanooga, and i'm having trouble picking a hotel. i don't want to get one in the "wrong" part of town, if you see my meaning. i'm hoping to travel fairly cheap and will be making this trip several times over the next few years, so i would appreciate any recommendations.

How's this for a timely response?
I'm sure by now that you have discovered that Chattanooga is a lovely small city, and that it doesn't have any (or any that I could find) unsavory areas. I always had to stay at the Residence Inn (GE paid for it) and always found great accomodations there.
By all means, see the aquarium, it's splendid.

indeed, i have already been there, and it was very nice. my concern for location came from using travelocity to reserve a hotel, which has the option for travellers to make comments on facilities they had used. it seemed that most places i could afford were in the 'lookout mountain - south' area, and other people had commented that they were uncomfortable with the area.
i did eventually find a very nice place (microtel) just off 1-75 that was very reasonable and in a wonderful location. we didn't get to go to the aquarium, it was just an overnight stay, but we did manage to get to rock city before heading home. now we're entertaining the idea of going for a long weekend over the summer and taking in the aquarium as well as some other attractions
thanks for the reply
i didn't realize you were still here, it's been an age since i've seen you around!

Hey Broelan,
Apparently I've only been picking at obscure threads. Seems like only yesterday you were just starting out, and now you're famous and everything!
Good to hear you enjoyed Chattanooga. Those are some of the nicest people on the planet. If (when?) you go back, be sure to go all the way to the top of Lookout Mountain to Summerdale and the National Park. It's incredible, too.
Of course, now you've Seen Rock City.

i'm famous?
it doesn't seem like i've been here for 3 1/2 years. i can't imagine what i did at work before i registered!
i'm sure i'll be there several times. my son's father has just moved to your fine state (tho a bit north of you, he's in jacksonville), and chattanooga is the halfway point. it's quite a nice drive for me, but i hear the construction traffic in georgia is rather hellish.
thanks for your suggestions!
