I find that the best way to find forums to chat in (and people to chat with) is to look up guide entries that interest you, see who's posting to those guide entries, then check out those people's home pages and their other guide entries. That way you have something in common with folks--the guide entries you were interested in.

Forum and Firkin is at http://www.h2g2.com/A187508

Another friendly place is the Aroma Café at http://www.h2g2.com/A202924

I list of forums and clubs is available at http://www.h2g2.com/A344756. Another list with descriptions is available at http://www.h2g2.com/A270325

Hope this helps. Also, you can always check the five busiest forums on the front page.

Wouldn't it be better to go to the five loneliest forums? That way your voice wouldn't get lost in the din. smiley - smiley How do they decide which are the busiest/least busy etc. Do the researchers who write the least busy ones get urgent messages from the h2g2 staff telling them to brush up the entry to make it more interesting, or do the h2g2 staff get ragged on by the researchers telling them that it would have been much more interesting if they hadn't edited the stuffing out of the entry?

Well, Abi, if there are those super-intelligent white mice, then could it perhaps be more accurate to say that they have a team of humans that go on at ridiculous lengths with this h2g2 thing while they admire the pretty pictures overall? smiley - smiley
