Alexandra Battery: a Discovery

The Discovery
As mentioned before by me in my Entry on Hobarts Early Defence system, i have frequently visited the Alexandra Battery. On one of my frequent walks through the Bunkers and other areas outside, i noticed in the pine bark that had been blown from off the flower beds, that there was Pumice, and Obsidian glass present in the pine bark.
Sure, you may be thinking, it was some kind of Fertiliser. WRONG. I researched. Firstly, the Pumice was found all the way up the hill of the Battery, buried in the soil. Secondly, i discovered that not only do they not use pumice in Fertiliser, they make fertiliser to repair soil that has pumice in it, pumice brings too much sulfur into the soil and disturbs the balance
Uh Oh
The evidence available showed me what i didn't want to hear. It had either been used for some imported purpose ( imported into the park, not the country) , or i was standing on a Volcano.
Neither of these possibilities came up with any valuable hits on Google. so i set up an exhibition in my house, and many of my mums sewing friends came and saw the exhibition while they had their sewing group. One of them was a Geology nut, and once i had told her my evidence she told me what i didn't want to know.
PEOPLE OF HOBART, BLINKING BILLY POINT IS A VOLCANO.
Blinking Billy Point is directly below the Battery.
So through careful investigation i discovered a not so well known fact for the sake of the General Public.
