That's tough. I reckon I can only do 10 000 in 3 months. But I am slooowwww.

If you average 15 words a day it's possible to do 30,000 in 3 months. I appreciate that's kind of simplistic, mind! If anyone told me something similar, though with an 'x number of A1 sheets of drawings' slant to it, I think they'd probably deserve bringing down to earth with a large slap from a wet mango.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Obviously so am I:: that is why I have only managed just over 3,000 so far smiley - yikes which is why I have so much left to do, although from what I gather the word count is a bit "accidemic" they just said about 60 pages: double line spacing 12 point characters, so maybe its not as much as I think:: As soon as I get this damm attachment with teh sequence data to open, then I can start the research proper, and I guess the results will take up oo, smiley - erm I don't know, but I am hoping on at least 15 pages of results, which cuts down what I actually have to write, and once I get going on teh results, and doing teh research stuff, the introduction will expand quite quickly as I get a better idea of what its all about:: Hopefully... And, then I guess the discussion will take the remainder; and I think the 60 pages they suggest includes references at the end of the report/project/thesis, and I already have seven pages of references from 3,000 words of intro thus far written, smiley - bleep Opps; pardon me, smiley - stout is repeating already smiley - biggrin Hopefully I will have more luck tomorrow with the sequence data; I am going to see the person again; so the project is really hotting up (finally after months of dormancy and working to do the "wrong" project), and I can always get her to put the sequence data on disk tomorrow if it won't open from teh Email still smiley - grrsmiley - sleepy but must just drink the last of my beer/ale/stout smiley - biggrin

Yeh, but if, like me, you write 300 words and then delete 350 of them, progress tends to be a bit slow.

smiley - silly

That is a bit like progress on my introduction has been so far; but at least what I now have written is pretty-much to the-point! And I have had one person in the department look at the first couple thousand words and they said they thought it was quite good; but, hay, what do they know, and they are probably just being polite smiley - yikes

And no reading lists are books which you buy, stack on the end of your bookshelf and then forget about as far as I can tell smiley - winkeye
