You're lucky they crash when you get on trains, 2legs - when I get on them they get about two hundred feet from the station and then stop for ages, possibly while the driver does a crossword or eats a pasty - or perhaps leaves and makes a cup of tea.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I've had that before, but the last time I went from Lowestoft to Cambridge the train crashed, and only just remained on the tracks smiley - yikes (I actually found that all rather hillarious)
Although there is the notible ocassion when I was going back from Norwich to Lowestoft, and the train stopped about half a mile from the station (which is a point a hundred yards or so from my dads house), because there was a dog on the track, and we sat there for almost an hour smiley - yikesBut there are (possibly luckly) the most worstest experiances I can remember on the trains (with the possible exception of a ham and salid sandwich; I don't want to remember that if I can help it though...)

Yes, going down the hill to it is a bit like that feeling where you get held above the big hole on "Oblivion" before plummeting to your non-death.

But the Oblivion ride's really bad in the sense of going "Wheeeeeeee...oh, is that it?" smiley - erm

Hmm have any of you tried to navigate the Magic Roundabout in Swindon? Now *thats* a test of driving. As I recall, it's seven small roundabouts in a circle, very close to each other.

OoooooOOOOH! Alton Towers! smiley - biggrin Yeah I thought Oblivion was deadly dull too, I spent one and three quarters hours queueing for it and the ride lasted seven seconds smiley - erm Oh and all it was was hanging you over an edge and then dropping you but that happens all the time when I go climbing. I guess it's only fun/scary if you suffer from vertigo.

What chances do you think there are of them developing a ride that resembles going round Hyde Park Corner on a moped?

*thinks* if the Christmas meet is held in Sheffield it'll have to be the Tinsley Turkey. We could go cooling tower spotting smiley - winkeye nb., I think the grit came from a Monty Python sketch something along these lines:
'When aa wor a lad we used to get fed the bits the dogs left at edge o'bowl, like'
'You used to get bits dogs left? You wos lucky, we used to get fed twigs'
'Twigs? Aa would ha killed for a twig. We ad grit. If it wos us birthday we'd ave the stuff from the railway'
Please feel free to complain I've got the details wrong smiley - smiley

"Ah, when I were a lad we were lucky to have the price of a cup of tea.
A cup of cold tea.
Aye.
Without milk or sugar.
Or tea."

*starts hopelessly reminiscing about the Four Yorkshiremen sketch*

Marvellous.

The kids today don't know they've been born!

Cardboard box?

You were lucky.

You had a whole shoebox smiley - wow When I was a kid there were 48 of us children living on teh bed of a polluted lake, we had to rise at 4 in the morning, work 23 hours a day to clean the lake, and, if we were lucky, our farther would beat us to death at night with the family rock, our only possetion...

Ah, didn't spot the subtler side of my suggestion - thanks Tink smiley - smiley Of course, we could all turn up and decorate the cooling towers with tinsel, then perhaps go and sing carols outside the Heeley Igloo. For those who don't know Sheffield, that's a white, dome shaped building that, I think, is some kind of cement factory, conveniently enough near the ice rink. Of course, if there's a Tinsley Turkey, we could go ice-skating smiley - smiley

Is that ice rink still called Silver Blades? Ooh I haven't been there since I was 12...in fact that could be a reason not to go ice skatingsmiley - winkeye

Ooh CW, did you see the Hallam FM concert advertised anywhere? The line up's great!!! smiley - smiley

I suggested ice skating *precisely* because very few people (apart from Emily, who can teach us smiley - smiley ) have been on the ice since they were 12. Including me smiley - smiley I have to admit - nope, haven't seen details of the Hallam FM concert. Who's playing (is it safe to ask?).
