Clerk Maxwell is the greatest scientist ever to have come out of Scotland. He was not English although he did work in Cambridge and more or less set up the Cavendish laboratory.I would be grateful if the appropriate correction were made.

Hello macularuk
Unfortunately you have entered this article into the Peer Review section of h2g2, which is the wrong place for your request.
This isn't an edited entry, it's the author's unedited work. GTBacchus, whom you can contact on his Personal Space at U166086 (or just post at the entry itself "click here to discuss this entry").
I hope that helps.

Thought you might like to know:

I'm sure you mean '... of physics for...'
I've always wondered, what would photons see if they were traveling in parallel towards each other. What is the calculation of .99 the speed of light + .99 the speed of light? 311/312?
Oh, did the entry ever mention that light slows down as it moves through transparent matter like glass? I believe that is why light refracts.

I suppose I should have written 'light SEEMS to slow down' etc.
Its always possible, I suppose, that light traveling through denser stuff has to make a longer, ricocheting trip, thus lengthening the time it takes to come out the other side.

Refraction is not part of the theory of Special Relativity
