Very thorough, especially liked a couple of points:
"Ask someone with a Boston accent."
"Watching for mice."
The first one..........how do you know who has a Boston accent?
The second one....the mice are watching our interactions with each other and the transit system, all that standing in front of the yellow line, studying maps, not speaking to people with Boston on their clothing, and to cap it all, interacting with the mice when the trains are coming.
This could be very hhgttg
Please do not take offence at my attempted humour, or my foreign way of spelling.
I read it all and could not see how it could be more complete
I'm new to all this too.
It really is massive.

No offense taken.
The Boston accent is very distinctive, and is regarded, in the USA, as the closest thing to a British one we have. An example:
Typical American Accent says:
"My name is Miao Kitty. I attend Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Yesterday I went to a party at my brother's place in Revere. Tomorrow I am going to see a Cars cover band at Harvard."
Boston Accent:
"My name is Miao Kitty. I attend No'theaste'n Univehrsity in Bahston, Mass. Yestahday I went to a pahty at my brothe's place in Rahveea. Tomarrah I am going to see a Cahs covah band at Ha'va'd."
Not perfect, but you can get the gist of it I hope. The general example is "I pahked the cah in Ha'va'd Yahd," but that's not possible in Boston.

Wouldn't have thought you could have expressed that so well.Thank you for the explanation.
No one else seems to have seen your entry yet, hope you get more reaction soon.
Have to log off and go to work. Good luck with Life, the Universe and Everything.
Where I live they speak differently, don't know if I'm allowed to refer to outside sources when h2g2'ing, maybe this will be unapproved (you can have an "unapproved" road between where I am and the bigger, different, bit to the south) but lets try anyway.....
When you are outside the guide you migt get an example if you search Geocities for "CRAIGY HILL"
Can't get over how big this h2g2 event is will be my closing remark.

You're missing a vital corollary to your "don't ask anyone wearing something with Boston written on it" point. You should also not ask anyone wearing clothes with "Harvard" or "MIT". They COULD be Harvard or MIT students who might be able to help, but they're probably just tourists who want to show off when they get home. DO ask anyone you see leaving Myles Standish Hall on the BU campus, since they'll probably be someone very cool and helpful. DO NOT ask anyone you see leaving Warren Towers on the BU campus, since they'll probably be a clueless freshman (which is what I am, but I had the sense not to stay in that hellhole). GO BU!
