Morning Bob, Interesting piece.

I'll give a hand with the punctuation etc later on if you like? I'm a bit busy right now.

Only one query -

>>Queen Victoria’s last trip on the line was after her death, she was taken from Osborn House back to Waterloo station in London. She was accompanied by her son Edward VII and Kaiser Wilhelm her grandson and many mourners on her last journey.

When you say 'last trip on the line' - which line do you mean she used? It's not clear to me. smiley - smileysmiley - cheers

Very good Bob smiley - ok

Your math is wrong here - 500 yard(520 meter) ~ as metres are longer than yards.

I also noticed a vassal that should be a vessel.

Hi

>>>a 500 yard (457.2 meter) stretch of line to the Gosport terminus. The line was connect via a short tunnel that was excavated through the earth works of the towns defences. The request was made to the commander to a breech the defences to allow the passage of the line via a gated tunnel.

I'm not sure what you mean here Bob, do you mean?

The Gosport terminus was used by the Royal family on October 8th 1843 when Prince Albert met and welcomed King Louis Philippe of France there, upon his arrival for a State visit. On October 14th 1843 Queen Victoria traveled to Gosport with the Royal visitor on his return to France.

>This line was not constructed until 1863, just 38 years prior to the Queen's death in 1901. This was despite the hopes and the plans of the Gosport Pier and Branch Railway company, although they did state that the line was to be constructed for that purpose, but this might have been to encourage investment. This might all seem a lot of fuss to go through, but it must be remembered that the entire Royal household spent a total of five months on the Isle of Wight. Two holidays were taken, the summer break mid July to late August, the Christmas holidays were from mid December to late February.

with a bit of correction....
