Well, well, well, no wonder St. Andrews is kept in Fife. Presumably to keep you well seperated from the rest of us.
I have often heard this academic family thing, but have never quite understood it, do you pick them or do they pick you, or does someone else assign you all?
All in all sounds like fun, but why November? We kept our water pistol fighting activities until May/June when it was a bit warmer.

The premise is that you ask people you'd like to be your parents, or they ask you. You don't get to choose your siblings.
Of course a lot of relationships are forged in the bar
And November, well because everyone's had enough time to get to trust each other, and its cold.
Also exams are in May

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
