As stated in my column, I am seeking up to ten volunteers. To volunteer, you must be planning to submit an entry to the Peer Review system within the next three weeks. And you must be willing to send me an email weekly detailing your entry's progress and your feelings about the whole process.
To volunteer, please reply to this thread.

I volunteer Hopefully http://www.h2g2.com/A473933 will be ready for submission by then... & it'll give me a good reason to make an effort to write it properly...

I'd like to volunteer too, but there's a slight problem with the entry on Munich's public transport system (http://www.h2g2.com/A432000), as there won't be many people around who can talk about it apart from grammar etc, so it might not fit into some statistical 'average entry' category.

Thanks, Joanna! Since you've have many entries approved before, your emails will give us a peek at what experienced writers go through and how they handle it.
Bossel, don't worry about your entry being a more niche topic. In fact, I really like that about your entry. It will give us a chance to see whether it gets treated differently based on the subject matter. Thanks for volunteering.

Do your plans include a specific starting point for submission of the entries into the PR scheme, or may I start any time?

heres one, Frag.

I wrote it on Friday, 17/11/00, the idea having been in the back of my mind for a while, and the research, all net based had been done at odd times over the last two or three weeks. I polished it in the afternoon and posted it to Peer Review that evening. However, I am not sure that it is especially entertaining, and is a little long, so may not be immediately interesting to the Guide. A bit of an esoteric subject, but you are to blame for that.
This was the first piece I have written which did not rely on previous knowledge, and the first I have done research for. I have written seven or eight entries now, and all but the two most recent have been recommended, but none have gone beyond that. We shall see.

Go ahead and submit your entry anytime.
For those volunteers who have submitted their entries, I would like the first email by the end of this coming Friday. (Americans celebrating Thanksgiving might want to consider sending the email a little earlier.) Please send your email to [email protected]. If you have not submitted your entry to Peer Review yet, don't bother sending email this week.
Here's what I want in this week's email:
Include the date you submitted your entry, the title of the entry, and it's article number. Then please tell me whether your Peer Review thread has received any feedback. Finally, let me know how you feel about the Peer Review process as it relates to your entry so far. Of course, feel free to include any other information or comments you like.
Pheroneous, thanks for volunteering.

I played a little with the idea of putting the letters 's', 'e', 'x' in this sequence somewhere into the headline of my proposal, in order to get more response, but I think this would only clutter the statistics

I wrote an Entry on brass instruments, located at http://www.h2g2.com/A473528.
I think about posting it to the PR, and I would gladly volunteer to let the whole process be monitored and commented. Just call me if you need me.

Hi Frag! I've submitted an entry on The Star-Spangled Banner yesterday. I'll keep you informed via email as to its progress.
This is a great idea!

Hurrah, Bossel!
I want to clarify what's going on for everyone while I'm here. I'll be sharing bits of your stories starting in next week's column. I would like an email by the end of this Friday from everybody who has submitted their entry to Peer Review.
Again, please include the name of the entry, the article number, any progress in making it through the Peer Review system, and your feelings about the process so far. You can send the email to [email protected]
If anybody has questions or wants to make comments on the project, just reply to this post.

That's okay, Joanna. If you submit the entry in the coming weeks, you can let me know. And if not, I can go on just fine with the input from the other volunteers. I appreciate your trying to help no matter what happens.

This is just a reminder. I still need to get those weekly emails from my volunteers.
Just FYI, I would like you to continue with the emails even if your entry is approved for the Edited Guide. I want to continue following your progress. We can explore your feelings while your entry sits on the What's Coming Up page, when you review the Sub-Editors job for the first time, and when your entry is featured on h2g2's main page.

I did get your email, Pheroneous.
By the way, I do want you guys to continue writing me if nothing has changed for your entry. A quick note is fine. Or you can ramble on about your feelings. Whatever makes you happy.
FYI, the Post will be taking two weeks off for the holidays. So don't worry if you skip the next week or two with me. Just make sure you've sent me an email sometime between now and January 1st. Thanks!
