"I'll go with the majority."
Coo imagine.
We'd have no filters at all and Thursday would be called Thing.

You're probably right about the filter - not sure about thing, though.
I'm just really fed up with the eternal discussion about what has and what hasn't a place in the guide. I won't put up a fight and stand my ground if most reviewers agree with Gnomon.

I personally don't like this entry at all...but so be it. As such, I don't really want to get involved in commenting on it in any detail.
Except for one aspect...I've always felt that the practice of putting [sic] after what may well be innocent typos looks like mockery. Unless the stupidity of the person quoted is of genuine relevance, it's far better to correct the quote.

Thank you, Edward. If you've read the backlog, you'll have seen that I wasn't happy to put [sic] behind those typos, highlighting them when it didn't seem necessary. I've just corrected them now.

Although...I'll admit that in this case, I'm a hypocrite. I pointed out the irony of a misspelling in the title of a thread purporting to complain about abuse of English.

Noah Webster is to blame for American spelling.
Noah Webster was a Yankee (New England) language abuser.
And if this entry isn't EG material, it is nonetheless informative and useful. I didn't know about the secondary (pronounced 'SEC-uhn-dry'?) filter. Good to know.
I suspect there is room for it *somewhere* on the front page, sometime...?

Thank you, dmitri.
However, after some more pondering, I have decided to take this out of PR as long as there's still a majority of people who seem to like it.
Thanks everybody for reviewing this, and apologies for having wasted your time.

Whoa!
Don't you take this out now!
This is what PR is for!
This is also what your 'stretch mission' was about. As such, you have succeeded in poking a reaction!
lil x

This is a bit of shock Anne. Don't know what to say. Won't you reconsider? It's a learning by the seat of the pants experience. Don't let a few bumps and bruises put you off

Thank you, Tibley. I don't feel this is a real loss for the guide if I don't reconsider.
