I think the new bloke looks interesting; definite other-worldly quality about him.

However, of the others suggested I would have loved to have seen Paterson Joseph in the role cos I think he's great. Mind you that's probably due to his masterful performance as Johnson in 'Peep Show', and I know this is a completely different job...

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

There's certainly something otherworldly about his haircut!

Peep Show? Bah! Paterson Joseph deserves the role because of his performance as the Marquis de Carabas in Neverwhere.

smiley - smiley Well yes, you may be right, I think he's probably a great actor all-round. (Of course, he's also Im in 'Numberwang').

Johnson though...what a man.

When Mr. T. goes, I shall stop watching this program.

The new guy is a poor choice. It's a bit like choosing between wine and a cider. Sadly the beeb have gone to Bargain Booze for a 99p bottle.

Are you not even going to give Matt Smith a chance? And how do you know he's a 99p alternative, have you seen him in something else that he's been dreadful in?

No.

Well he's no Christopher Eccleston.

smiley - erm

But if you liked Peter Davison, you might be O.K.

smiley - popcorn

Peter Davison, sad.
Colin Baker, pathetic.
Sylvester McCoy, sad and pathetic.
Paul McGann. Never watched.

Christopher Eccleston wasn't that great. After Tenant came along he more or less paled into insignificance for me. The new guy's obviously good enough for Moffat so I'm going to give him a chance, and from what I've seen he's pretty good already.

And I never saw Peter Davison.

D.T. is about the best, like, *ever*; but C.E. was needed to re-launch.

The beeb managed to re-invent the wheel, they needed a skilled 'mechanic' to prove it all worked, but now they've lost the nuts. - And I do mean that in more ways than one.

Corrected that for you, Fluffylump. smiley - tongueout

I think Matt Smith has the potential to be what Peter Davison should've been. Moffat knows what he's doing. I just hope they take Mr. Smith to a decent barber before they start principal photography.

Well let's be accurate, he also managed to afflict Tom Baker.

Then again the BBC had not noticed Star Wars had happened, me thinks.

Mr. Davison, easy to watch actor, but played Dr Who too weak, or so I thought at the time.

This Smith, bit of a Davision look-a-like?

Well these 'creatives' do like some eye candy. smiley - tongueincheek *cough*

He would have made a great assistant to a Dr. played by somebody like Paul Bettany. Me, I thought Aidan Gillen, even James McAvoy.
