you could also add that after the first world war Olave was concerned that members around the world shoul keep in touch so that they could share ideas and develope mutual understanding. With this in mind the International Council was formed.

Right this is what I was talking about and might be worth putting in
The guides raised over £26,000 to equip and maintain carrier pigeons for the army. As a thankyou for thier efforts the Army Pigeon Service offered to arrange for one carrier pigeon to fly from each county in Britian to Guide Headquaters in London bearing a Thinking Day message for the Chief Guide. This became known as the Day of the Grand Flights. Princess Elizabeth's Thinking Day message said:-
'The winged message I send you all brings greeting and good wishes from my sister and myself with out sense of pride and thankfulness that Guides everywhere are taking their share in the great fight against evil'
I have a really dodgy pic of Princess Elizabeth writing the message and Princess Margaret holding the carrier pigeon *giggles*

This might be of interest too Olave was first warranted as a Scoutmaster of the Ewhurst Scout Troop, before being appointed County Commissioner for sussex and then Chief Commissioner.
If I'm overloading you with cr@p let me know

Do you mean that Olave was the leader of the Ewhurst Girl Scout Troop? Because I don't think she'd have been allowed in a Boy Scout troop...

the info I have says Scout troop, if it had been guides it would have said Guide company I would assume since it was after guides were formed

For the guide diamond jubilee she was given a diamond which was later sold to benefit guiding. Sorry I can't find any information on how much it went for.
You might also want to mention the Memorial fund and also the Olave award

Well, that's a lot of info for me to think about! I doubt I'll put it all in as I don't want the entry to get too complicated or involved, but I'll add some of it

Does anyone else, other than Mizzpinky, have anything else to say? Does it make sense to non-guidey people? How much of Mizzpinky's info should I include?
