Greetings smiley - smiley

My girlfriend, Luna, won a party thing at the Denver Comedy Club for Saturday the 9th of Dec. at 10pm-ish. She can invite up to 40 people to it and she's letting me invite you guys. smiley - smiley

I realize that this is short notice, but I need to know who wants to go by Friday so we can include you in the number of people we tell them to expect. Please let me know either via email ([email protected]) or by replying to this post.

Which Comedy Club is it, Phoenix? The one downtown? Or the one by the Westminster Mall? If its the one up here, I'll be there! If its the one downtown, it'll take more finagling. smiley - winkeye

Either way, thanks to Luna! smiley - biggrin

Hmmmm, I didn't realize that there were two of them. I'll find out and post the info here. In the meantime, check your email, if you haven't already, I'll send you our telephone numbers so it'll be easier to communicate. smiley - smiley

What's wrong with telephone communications? Aren't we going to meet in person soon anyway? Besides, we're appearantly not having telephone communications yet anyway. Either Gw7en hasn't gotten the email yet, or I have her email address wrong. Anyway, here's an update ...

Location:
Wits End Comedy Club
8861 Harlan
Westminster

And, I love their telephone number smiley - ok ...

So since it's the one in Westminster, should I put you down as coming Gw7en?

I'd like to come. Can I take my live-in smoochie as well? And can anyone give directions to the club?

Phone communications: I'll send my number by email, but I won't post it to an h2g2 forum that anybody can read. I gotta protect my privacy, here. Sorry. smiley - sadface

Sorry I didn't call last night, Phoenix. I was here at work late - as my e-mail explains. smiley - winkeye

And, as I said in the e-mail, E and I are planning on being there - barring disaster, natural or otherwise. smiley - biggrin

Shall we all bring our towels to identify ourselves? And should we identify ourselves as being with Luna's party or in some other way to the doorman?

Fragilis: Yeah, bringing your live-in smoochie is fine. smiley - smiley Unfortunately I've never actually been to the place so I don't have directions. (Can you help with that G7?) Also, I completely understand about not wanting to post your telephone number here.

G7: No problem about not calling. At least everyone got (at least most of) the information they need.

Yes, please do bring your towels to help us notice each other, since we otherwise don't know what each other looks like. I was planning on bringing mine anyway. It likes to be taken places with me, and I enjoy it's company. smiley - smiley

As far as what to tell the doorman, I'm not sure if they have Luna's 'legal' name or not. Ask for the "McKenna" or "Luna's" party. They'll have it under one of the two.

I look forward to seeing you guys. smiley - smiley

Oh, BTW, I'll be wearing an H2G2 t-shirt, so in case I leave my towel at the table you'll still be able to tell who I am. smiley - smiley

Thanks Gw7en and Fragilis for coming to the pre- Get Together. smiley - smiley I had a good time and hope you did too. Sorry the performance didn't give us much opportunity to talk more, but we'll be able to do that at the actual Get Together. smiley - smiley

That was a lot of fun, Phoenix! Thanks again to you and Luna for inviting us!

As you said, it was pretty noisy and packed in there. I look forward to getting to talk more in January. smiley - smiley

For everyone who missed it - Sorry you weren't there! It made me look forward to meeting everyone even more! smiley - biggrin

It was very fun. Joe (the smoochie in question) is still struggling with his skepticism of the affair, I think. He's convinced that everyone on-stage was just acting up on purpose. But then he can't justify why anyone would embarrass themselves to quite such a degree as a couple of the participants. smiley - smiley

Anyway, I look forward to the "real" get-together. It will be nice to meet the rest, and get a chance to really talk.

Greetings all smiley - smiley

I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. I look forward to the January meeting too. smiley - smiley Hopefully it'll be easier to have munchies available at the Mercury Cafe, but at least the Gin and Tonics were good at Wits End.

Here's some thoughts ...

I believe it's a combination of what is commonly thought of as hypnosis and willfully acting up. As Sandman said, "Hypnosis is simply a state of elevated suseptibility to suggestion.". What was the one criteria for anyone being up on the stage?

*The willingness to do whatever it was he told you to do.*

Though repetition of the commands the commands become more powerful and reach more into the subconscious (perhaps thus allowing people to see things that aren't there?) and to be obeyed without thinking so much about what the command actually is.

>But then he can't justify why anyone

That's easy. All of the people up on stage agreed to give him their complete cooperation at the start of the show. If anyone decided that they wouldn't (or he decided that someone wasn't working out) they would be asked to leave the stage, as was the case with me.

Overall the things he asked people to do weren't all that bad, and some people like to ham it up when given a good excuse.
