Entry: The Music of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - A4147652
Author: Cyvros - U944960

I've been working on this for some time and it's rather difficult trying to download selected parts of one's memory through to an article without other bits spilling out. I've recently edited it a bit more and fixed up the GuideML and I think it's all right now.

Since I wasn't born when the stage play was performed, I have no idea about the stage play music. If anyone can help me there, I'd be most grateful.

I'd also be very grateful to anyone who can comment or help me with this article.

I've spent a long time on it and I hope you like it.

Gnomon - time to move on

If this is intended for the Edited Guide, then the first thing to remember is that this is not a Hitchhiker's Guide Fan Site. You have to write the Entry assuming that the reader has never heard of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So it'll need a gentle introduction. Find the Edited Entry on the subject and link to it, but provide enough of a description so that the reader doesn't have to follow the link to know what you are talking about.

Okay. Should I change my sort of mode of speech as well? It seems almost too enthusiastic for my liking and I was wondering whether anyone else felt that.

Enthusiasm is good. It's what makes Entries interesting to read.

Great entry!smiley - ok

Gnomon's right that enthusiasm is good, but always referring to the people in the entry as 'great', 'talented', etc. gets old a bit quickly. If you like you can just remove those phrases and you'll have a much more straightforward-sounding entry.

If you don't know anything about the stage play, you should (preferably) research it, or remove that section altogether. The Edited Guide doesn't go in for first-person references so anything like that (for example, the stage play section and the final sentence of the entry) should be removed.

You can also clean up your GuideML: for a start, remove all the tags and also remove the first header.

Once again, I'm glad someone has written this entry! (Journey of the Sorceror is one of my favourite songs of all time.)

Okay. Thanks for the feedback. I've actually got to go now, but I'll do some editing a bit later on.

The article's now been fixed up, although I'm having a bit of trouble with the font size on the Journey of the Sorcerer table (it's incredibly gigantic). I've also added a couple of footnotes to lessen the amount of long bracketed passages there are.

Thank you. You (probably) don't know how relieved I feel to finally be able to download all of that information from the chunks of memory that have been solidifying in the back of my mind for the past few years. smiley - winkeye

Um. You haven't seen any of my entries, have you?
Particularly the five tries at a Buddy Holly entry.

Most of them constitute brain dump.

The novel I wrote was even worse. It was full of everything I ever thought I would put in a first novel if I ever got around to writing it. Then I had a bunch of stuff left over and I had to work on the second one... which is almost but not completely different.

Evidently not... in fact, I'm finding it hard to find them.

Did your novels go well?

I did. I browse through about five pages of your Guide entries without any success. What were the articles called? I might have just gone past them without noticing.

Oops. My fault. I should have said Edited Guide Entries.
Yoko Ono, Bludgeons, Little Professors and the Druze, if I remember correctly. Oh, the the Telecaster article.

as well as some of the Escape Pod Dreams columns in the post and the Platypus Dancing cartoons.

Ah, okay. I'm looking for them now. As you guessed, I was trawling through your Guide entries, not the edited ones.

I should have been. Sorry, but I've been busy with Uni exams and all sorts of horrible things collapsing over me. I'm trying to get everything in order, so hopefully my entries will no longer be in the "vapourware" pile for too long. smiley - biggrin

Guide entries should be in the third person so you'll need to ditch phrases like 'Before I begin', which may be a good way to start on Jackanory but not on H2G2. You lapse into 'me speak' again at the end too.

Also you missed out that the Tim Souster 1980 verion of Journey of the Sorcerer was released as a 7" single (Original Records ABO 5). This version had a time of 2.55 on the label.

The B Side of that single featured 3 tracks:
Reg Nullify in concert (Souster - 1.27)
Peter Jones narrating for 1.30 about Disaster Area,
Disaster Area performing ' Only The End Of The World Again
(Godwin/Wright - 2.50)

Tracks 1 & 2 were taken from the album, track 3 done for the single and credited as being produced by Hotblack Desiato, the character from the TV series of HHTTG.smiley - smiley
