Evadne Cake, your U-number is the six-digit number that identifies you as a Researcher. You can find it on your Personal Space to the right of your introduction and below the 'Leave a message' button. For example, mine is U929375. It's a nice thing to have handy.

Thanks.

I know its a nice thing to have handy, but I'm numerically dyslexic!
I worked on the theory that if anyone really needs to know what my U number is they can go to my page and look it up...

Appreciate the advice though. It was kindly takensmiley - ok

Out of interest, why does the guy who's started this campagne want to know our U numbers? - How will it help us acheieve new icons?

Well, you can direct the question to FB, but my opinion is that if our U-numbers are right there in front of him, it's easier for him to put our names on the drop-down list on the front page. See, if I were to be added to that list for example, the code would be echomikeromeo. So it's far easier to just have our U-numbers there, as opposed to going searching for them.

OK, I'll accept the explanation, but as I've said, being dyslexic numerically makes apparently "simple" stuff (to you, who obviously DON'T have a problem with numbers!) darned near impossible for people like me!

(And if you're reading this Ferritbadger.. I'm not terribly good at remembering names, either! My apologies if my joining causes you a bit of extra work; I'd like to think I'm worth it, though!)

I've got a piece of paper on my desk and on that I've written down my U-number and the numbers of several pages and threads I need to know, you could do that too maybe.smiley - smiley

(I'm also very bad in learning numbers)smiley - cheers

I usually do - but as it IS a Sunday... I thought, hell with this, lets have a day off!

And does it really MATTER about what number we are? Each of us has a unique user name, after all. Is it REALLY necessary to substantiate our virtual identities with our "u" number? Its bad enough in RL for heavens sake, without Virtual fun getting all official

Do you get 3s and 5s confused Tavaron? I do. And the 5s look upside down, and depending on how stressed I am 3s and 8s look the same!

(I've read that last sentence several times now, and i now can't "read" what I've written...smiley - sigh)

Where oh where is the smiley - sigh smiley when you want one!

I hope I've made sense, anywaysmiley - smiley

Oh it absolutely made sense, but on uni I'm a number too (after seven months I know it!) so I don't care.

No, I don't write them the other way round, I just can't remember them especially not the order. But I've got this problems in writing sometimes. I sometimes write s instead of l and the other way round (not only handwriting, also on computer), especially when I'm stressed and I can't write quickly (bad at uni!) because when I don't concentrate I write just any letters and not the ones I want to write... I don't care and the results can be really funny.smiley - biggrin

Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that s and l are typed by the same fingers in the same positions, just with different hands? I'd think that would be somewhat logical.

I like having a number. I think it helps organise things that need to be organised. But all the same, 'I am not a number! I am a free man!' (Well, woman really, but that rather spoils the quote.) Anyhoo... yeah, I'll stop talking now. smiley - blush

No, I don't think that it has anything to do with the keyboard, because I do it in handwriting too. And most of the time I use the middle finger for s, I never learned how to type properly so I have my own system.

Of course it helps organising things, I've got nothing against numbers.

Oh, no! All this talk of numbers.

Any second now Rover will be on to us (Giant weather balloon that acted as a guard in the series 'The Prisoner').

6 is 1 and not a number after all!
