Ummm... this is longer than I originally intended it. Even if you're not from New Zealand, it should be an instructive insight into the a little of the weird politics of the recording industry.
I don't know the band personally (not everyone in NZ knows each other, honest), just a fan. See what you think!

DrMatt, this is a sweet entry!
I'm not a fan of Shihad, but I am interested enough to read about them and it's refreshing to read something informative and engaging as opposed to the hype in the NZ mainstream media.
Really nicely written, easy to read, and I learnt quite alot.
A couple of typos -
>>The negative experience of making Churn (and Larkin's subsequent experience playing drums on the recording of Killing Joke's record Pandemonium) led Shihad themselves to take the bulk of production duties for their follow-up album, Killjoy released in 1994).<<
There is an extra ) at the end that needs to be removed, or an ( added.
>> But their music will remain as a the South Pacific's contribution to the world of hard rock.<<
Take out the 'a'
I'm curious as to why you haven't used Pacifier in the title. Would that name be more or less known internationally?
Also I am unclear from the ending - have they gone back to using 'Shihad' ?
The length seems fine to me. I did find the ending rather abrupt, as if I was expecting something more, or that it had been finished in a hurry.
cheers,
kea.

Just rephrasing one of my questions:
I'm curious as to why you haven't used Pacifier in the title. Would that name be more known internationally, or less, than Shihad?

I've fixed the typos, renamed the Entry and added one or two bits and pieces. I just need a bit of advice on the usual procedure for song titles, album titles etc. Are they italicised, put in 'quote marks'? One of the ACEs could help me out here maybe?

Have you seen this? <./>SubEditors-Style</.> See the section on using italics.
Maybe have a look at other EG entries on bands too.

Hi DrMatt (and kea - I'm not stalking you, honest)
A few minor points on your great entry...
I think its Jon (not JoHn) Toogood
You have misspelled the word 'misspelled'
Maybe a link to http://www.flyingnun.co.nz/history.cfm ???
Using the word iconic TWICE jumped out at me - maybe Split Enz could be decribed as 'pre-emininent' or ??????? http://thesaurus.reference.com
Is Paul Barker from MinistEry (current spelling) or Ministry ?
The toaster bit is bizarre!!!
Although I know what you mean, "broke the band big" sounds, to me, a bit odd
Autralia ==>> AuStralia
Johhny and the Toogoods ==>> Jonny and the Toogoods
namechange ==>> ??? name change ??? name-change ???
evental ==>> eventual
tradmemark ==>> trademark
---------------------
Other than that little lot - its great!

Hmmm....
I think people are shying away from this a bit because they don't know the band, which is fair enough. Nonetheless, consider this bumped.

Can you turn every into just for me please? The sub would do it anyway, so it'll save them some work
Other than that, looks good to me

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
