A great read, super research; really enjoyed it. It occurred to me that Isambard Kingdom Brunel would have to be a great subject for an entry. Ships, railways, bridges - he was an engineering genius. Take care,

Very true - he did have quite an enigmatic mind which people on h2g2 would probably appreciate.
Anyway, I said I'd tell you when I found out about the ironship/compass problem, and I have - it's in the first footnote on the re-written article.
