Hi there.
I have a newuser asking someting about h2g2
'By the way, where can I go around here to get an explanation of why h2g2 doesn't like to play nicely with Apple's Safari browser?'

The simple answer is that the BBC only guarantee to support IE. Most browsers are non-conformant with the HTML spec in some way, even if it is only to support stuff which isn't official (eg MARQUEE). So it is just a question of which bits don't quite match. Since your person is supposed to be studying computing (including HTML) they should be able to work out the differences themselves from the page source (and any included CSS files) and their manual.
The first things to do are probably to turn frames off if on and try plain skin.

I don't know about that browser
It might be a idea to find out if s/he is noticing the speed of H2G2 ( or lack of it )
H2G2 doesn't like to play nicely with ANY browser
