I tried blowing in to my Kazoo, but no noise emerged. I am seriously reconsidering this band thing, maybe it ain't as easy as it looks.

You don't blow a Kazoo, you sing through it. Make sure that the paper sqaure is intact for maximum effect.

Hang in there, I recall John Lennon said exactly those words at one point. And his band turned out OK.
