Casual but delicious, moderately priced. Local business. Sprinkled around Eugene and Springfield.

Mazzi's: Sicilian, a classic local business. Nice atmosphere. No reservations, so arrive early or late or plan to stand in line. Local business. On Amazon a few blocks South of 30th Ave.

Cafe Marche, in the 5th Street Public Market: You will not find better food anywhere (ever). Bring your appetite and consider wearing something nicer than jeans and birkenstocks (although those will be OK, too--because it's EUGENE). Most of us would consider this a splurge ($$$). Local Business.

Cafe Yumm, 5th Street Public Market and the Meridian at 18th and Willamette. Vegetarian served at a counter. The food is really good, and Yumm sauce was invented by a local woman in her kitchen. Virgin Air serves it. Still owned and operated by the founder and her husband.

Mekkala's, near M St and Mohawk Blvd (Springfield). Thai. Need I say more? Local, too.

Don't overlook a converted hot dog stand at 18th and Willamette, called Hong Kong. Doesn't look like much, but the food is really fresh, delicious, and economical. Local too. Other Asian places usually rate higher in polls, BUT I've found them to be inconsistent at best; this one is a winner.
