....figure skating championships are on a teevee near me and i am seeing what you mean on how points are awarded and deducted.
sometimes i almost think judges think they're at a fashion show, too.

Over on Yahoogroups's Skatefans list, we're so busy rehashing some of the incomprehensible results that we haven't had enough time for our regular Outrageous Costume discussion and our equally entertaining Caption This! competition (the ice dancers can get into some pretty, um, er, amazing positions). 
Oh well, one of my favourite skaters (Jeff Buttle of Canada) won a silver medal in the men's competition, and Belbin-Agosto of the US won the silver in ice dance. The US gets to send 3 ice dance teams to the 2006 Winter Olympics. Unfortunately, Tanith Belbin doesn't have US citizenship yet, so barring a special act of Congress that team can't go, and most of our other capable teams have split up or have citizenship issues. I oughta dust off my skates and practice my buns off; I have a reasonable shot at making the team....

i think you realize that, if you don't have any buns, you ain't gonna make it, Quiz, no matter WHO designs your outfits.
amazing positions notwithstanding.
