Really well thought out and not too gory, just enough detail to fascinate without revolting.
I had no trouble slipping into the (futuristic?) realm created in this story.

I'd been toying with a straight piece on headshrinking, when Farlander did it far better with his epic on Preserving the Dead.
So I gathered up the pieces and just altered history a bit.
It's meant to be present-day, but the outcome of a different last five hundred years.
Perhaps the Spanish got their come-uppance in Central and South America, and then the locals maybe got curious and invaded Europe.
The Weddell says that an alternative civilisation that still drives Volvos is a bit far-fetched, though.
