Hi, Evangeline, I know enough science to realise that it's the 'air displacement' which causes the apparent dichotomy of volume differences! It's just such a BIG difference when it happens, it amazes me every year to see the ingredients laid out on the table appear to "shrink" into the form, which INVARIABLY looks far too small to be of any use whatsoever when proceedings start!
Perhaps there's also a little bit of the famous "Christmas Magic" involved
Who says it's too early to use these Seasonal Smileys???

Christmas,Christmas, or Christmas could explain the cake ingredients shrinking.
I have a difficult time accepting the following: A jar of whole pickled hot peppers and a jar of sliced pickled hot peppers(same brand and size) are opened and measured into portions. How come if I slice the whole peppers I get more servings from the whole peppers than from the pre sliced peppers even though I didn't slice them any thinner?
Displaced air doesn't bother me. Displaced water keeping the large ships afloat is another story(I know the physics behind it, still doesn't seem plausible). Don't get me started on airplanes.
The pudding reminded me of something...one of these days I am going to have to explain Coca Cola salad...or maybe no one should know about that...hmmm. 7up cake is much nicer.

As I think I just recently mentioned in a different thread, it's Frankie's doing, for the entire Campsite. How are you?

Hi Galen, good to see you are back. I agree that is a nice tent banner. Caught me a little by surprise the first time I saw it. Nice work Frankie!
Strider, I hope we haven't bored you with the talk about food and cooking.
Siobhàn and Bagheera, for you a recipe and a story...check my tent. It was a bit much to type here all in one posting...unless everyone likes long rambling postings about all sorts of things all at once that might be confusing and ...what was the question?
