A Conversation for Talking Point: Competitiveness
Beatrice Started conversation May 28, 2008
Those who know me know I'd do (almost) anything for a certificate or a badge. I did all the badges as a girl guide, eventually becoming a Queens Guide. I did lots of dance festivals when younger, winning cups and medals for that, and then later in life went back to dancing and became senior champion 3 years running.
At work, I'd call myself ambitious rather than competitive, as I'm very supportive and encouraging of staff and colleagues, and I'd never back stab just to get ahead.
My daughter seems to be taking after me - she's just got into sport, and finds herself fiercely competitive, willing herself to win, during a race.
Now if I could only get my dog to realise that there's rosettes at stake here, and walk to heel properly...
