and in the meantime between my writing (after deadline) and submitting an editing note (way after deadline), the beloved cleveland browns have accepted the resignation of their head coach, so if there's any AmFoot fans, there is a decided soap opera in the early patriots-browns game sunday.
the new coach met with the team wednesday, and brought a shovel and a bucket of ice, set them down. he told 50-some 200-plus pound players he was gonna dig a hole and see what the devil was up to. asked them if anybody would follow. half of them agreed.
i think this guy is gonna be pretty good, but, as always, the games are won between the white lines.
