h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Managed to blag some industrial headphones from one of our producers and take a look at the 'cast.

Vogonpoet and 2legs' segments were fantastic. I may have drawn attention to myself when I laughed out loud at "Beardcast? Nah..." though.

The rest is all of a good quality - poetry especially comes across better when it's spoken than when it's written down. Excellent narration too, especially from B'el and lil.

Just one thing bothers me though - how the hell am I, a man who writes audio messages for a living, going to write something to match that offering?

Excellent work though, everyone, and I'm glad all your effort paid off!

vp and 2legs' contributions can't be underestimated. They give it so much personality, and it would have been much poorer without them.

I did wonder about your post in 'Ask', cause the last thing I knew was that you would only be able to hear the audio tomorrow night.
Thanks for your comments - the fact that you went out of your way to get to listen to it today,instead of waiting for tomorrow is a great sort of feedback already.

I just hope I can improve on what I contributed so far, so that the next one is even better, although I notice Jodans project hit the FP today, so I suppose I should get on with coordinating the Audio for that first...

I'm trying to think how I could do a Beeblecasted version of my new column. I think a Dr. Ashens type of couch-based format (seen at www.ashens.com) and a takeaway may be the way to go.

I've got weeks of smugness to come yet. you like the Beeblecast now, but think about it - do you really want to see me doing this until Christmas? Thought not.

Episodes of the Beeblecast are going to continue to be produced, Psycorp, but in an audio-only format - I would imagine the next video version will be several months away, unless the public starts baying at my door. I think we can produce several audio episodes in the same time it takes to make one AV version, and of course more people will be able to contribute. Think that idea over!

Audio? As in "easier to make, easier to host, quicker to download and I can listen to it on my iPod?"

Yes, all that. Providing easy audio was one of the reasons why we went for our own website, actually. I'm kind of in test mode at the moment, but hopefully I'll be in a position to formally announce that we're looking for audio submissions in the next couple of issues.
