Welcome magwitch, I have added your name to the list
Something simple???
Well, I may have a suggestion. Some friends of mine at university were talking about some books and they were shocked to find that I have never read anything by Tamora Pierce. So I have made a reservation at the library for a book called "Alanna" by said author.
I am told they are marked as children books, but hey so are Harry Potter books My friends assured me that they are great for grown-ups as well...
So, unless you have read Alanna by Tamora Pierce, the I suggest that as the first book. What do you say?

I have no idea what it's like, I have not read it
Although I do have to say that I like Harry Potter.
But I don't think that Alanna is a Harry Potter type wannabe. But then again, all I know is that it's fantasy...

Hi, stick me down as a member
I'm reading "Carry on Jeeves" at the minute, first time I've read P. G. Wodehouse. Among other reasons I got it because DNA was quoted on the front cover calling Wodehouse "The best comic writer ever". So I had to give it a go!
Other than that I'm willing to read pretty much anything I haven't read yet. Even some I have read if they're good enough!

Welcome King Bomba I have added your name to the list...
I still recommend Alanna by Tamora Pierce as the first book. Unless anyone has anything against that?
I am willing to give it a go even though I've never read it before, and it only a little under 250 pages, so it should be a quick read

I suggest that you both just get the book first, and then let me know when you have it. After that we can set the date
I am still in line at the library for the book, but it can't be long now before it's my turn. Besides, I still need to finish the Star Trek book I am reading right now, but should be done with that in a week - tops

By the way, there was something I wanted to ask.
As you may have noticed, the mainpage for the bookclub is not very attractive because it's in Plain Text. I don't know how to use GuideML, so I can't make it look better myself.
Maybe one of you knows how to do it? If not, I'll just leave it until someone comes along that knows how to do it

I know how to use it (a little!) I'll change it when I get a chance.
Haven't got the book yet. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can find it anywhere.
