In US, the fourth Thursday in November is set aside as a federal holiday for the purposes of giving thanks for blessings.

Also known as Turkey Day as most families celebrate the day with a traditional meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry relish, sweet potatoes and pies. Based on a celebratory meal held by the Pilgrim settlers after surviving their first winter in the New World.
