Anniversary of Mount St. Helens eruption. This volcano in Washington state USA was one of the most violent volcanic eruptions ever recorded in North America. Sixty people and thousands of animals were killed in the eruption and subsequent mudslieds, etc. Ash from the eruption fell as far away as Montanna.

18th May 2000 was Wesak Day, the celebration of the birth of buddha. I'm no expert so it would be worth checking.
However, I'm pretty certain that it won't fall on the 18th May next year. That's the problem with looking at the world (let alone the galaxy) from a single (Western) view of the world.
