I hadn't thought of Heaven as a democracy. More of a monarchy, if the fundamentalists are to be believed. Perhaps a constitutional monarchy. And of course, security angels on golf carts...

- But does heaven need a form of government if it is only inhabited by the good, they would not need laws to proctect their property? if indeed they had property.

Property? Which property? Are you talking h2g2 property? Or maybe the h2g2 Archangels' super secret deluxe golf co- oops!

Speaking of tea cups.....I've been looking for an old fashioned china tea service. I've always wanted one. It seems like I can find used ones on Ebay but can't find any new ones. The flea markets/antique shops I've checked either want the earth for them or they have pieces missing.

Having recenty read 'Job' by R Heinlein (is it just me who wants to put a capital L in his surname?) it has an interesting view of heaven and hell in it. It was quite nice to re read it. Having read it a long time ago and forgotten some of the nuances but remembering the general premise of the story.
Now I'm onto McCarthy's Bar by Pete McCarthy. It was all down to that holiday I took in Ireland being shown around by someone who had been there many many times before...

Bds. Just got an email containing a virus. Problem is some (many, I hope not y'all though) people will be fooled by it as it purports to come from Microsoft Security as a windows update.
If you get this Don't automatically run it. Delete it or if you want to be sure check out one of the anti-virus vendors (Norton, sophos, fsecure) websites for the Swen or Gibe virus (technically a worm but who cares other than real ).
That was a comunity service announcement brought to you by Phil. You will now return to your previously scheduled conversation, thank you.

Just remember that M$ have no intention of sending proactive alerts out. Your first clue that teh swen worm is illegitimate, is that a company with appaling security habits is unlikely to proactively try to h elp you.
It does look quite authentic, however, so be carefull.

My ISP's firewall has caught 8 or 9 infected emails purporting to be from MS -- M32.Swen. I thought I heard something knocking around inside my machine last night -- hard drive activity -- but it was while I was online, and a Spybot purge cured that.

Yes I've seen a few of those fake M$ e-mails. And very professional they look too
Still, I suppose it makes a pleasant change from the hoards of Sobig.F viruses that were floating around not so long ago

I've blocked .exe and .pif attachments on the office mail server, so the most we see of those are the reports of blocked mail. Plus I use a Mac, so if it got through it would be no big deal.
Congrats on the news, life. And congrats on the Linux, Z.
Could we have a fur teacup on the badge?

I've gotten two of them, but they came with funny letter/number sequences for the "from" part, so I just deleted them quickly.
Well, boys and girls, I may be offline for a bit after today. I spent last evening in the emergency room, and it turns out that my gallbladder has decided to rebel. I am going in tomorrow for an ultrasound, and apparently, will meet with a surgeon then to determine if and when I will be having it removed. I am rather hoping they can do the radio-wave blasting removal, so I don't have to have surgery, but we'll have to wait and see. Until then, I am going to lose lots of weight, because I can only eat one saltine an hour or I end up writhing in pain. But the drugs are good!
Anyone else have their gallbladder removed, and if so, what sort of recovery time was it?

GreyDesk Posted Sep 24, 2003
Surgical techniques used in cholecystectomies have cut the recovery time down dramatically in the last 15 years. My Dad had one done back in the late 1970s and was hospitalised for 2 weeks and off work for a month afterwards.
By comparison my Grandmother - who was 88 at the time - had the same procedure done laprascopically a couple of years ago. She was in hospital for only 2 days post surgery and was pottering around quite comfortably by the end of the week.
You shouldn't have too many problems

My stbx had hers removed a couple of years back, was in the hospital for a day and a half (surgery included) I think.

My sister has had hers removed, as well as my mother. My mother had it done in the 70's and was out for a very very long time. My sis was out of the hosp in a couple of days.

I am not certain of the link, but you can probably navigate there from the front page: you absolutely ~must~ see the wallpaper that Amy has created!
Marv, good luck. I'm a surgery-phobe, and sometimes I think I would rather be shot than to ever undergo another large-scale invasive procedure. Actually, I even hate the dentist.

The link is A1136242 -- and I only just went there myself (I've been seeing the wallpapers for a while in my priveleged position as a CA), and discovered that my favorite design by Amy isn't there.

I am sitting here with my neck enswathed in a long pink and brown stripy scarf, which is actually helping a bit. At least I can actually turn my head today.
