Hi - and welcome to the guide! I have never heard the phrase "the Six Classic Malts" and I have lived in Scotland for several years and just about drank it dry. It may be due to different areas giving different types of flavour eg Speyside malts all have an almost iodine smell because they use dried seaweed for smoking the grain prior to fermentation. I will attempt to find out more.

OK - I've just found out the answer - as I suspected, it is an advertising ploy by United Distillers to promote 6 malt whiskeys from the different whisky producing areas of Scotland.
The whiskies are: Oban, Talisker, Lagavulin, Glenkinchie, Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie.
Any serious whisky drinker would immediately condemn this list, as it is virtually impossible for anyone to give a definitive best list; it's all a matter of personal taste!
So next time you see 6 classic malt whiskies, neatly packaged and labelled, possibly in miniature siz, you will know that it is aimed at the tourist trade. Having said that, I would be delighted if anyone bought me such a present!

Ah, it does sound familiar. I think i saw a box of those when i was in scotland this summer. Then, it is hard to remember with all the whisky signs/commercials etc that hung around everywhere!
Wonderfull country, Scotland. Me and a friend spent two week traveling around by car. Driving on the left hand side of the road was particulary intressting, not to mention, somewhat scary! But it was an hugely enjoyable vacation.
Thanks,

You should try driving on both sides of the road on both sides of the car. Once you've done that any vehicle is possible.
