it's not an easy thing to define. It's more one of those things where you know it when you see it. It's kind of like the stereotype gay man

Hello!

As often, Wikipedia is a life saver:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_(style)

Definitely, Dame Edna and myself are camp.

I tried that but I still didn't exatly get it. I mean I sorta know what its saying but I still don't know camp when I see it by the way nice to have you back I don't think I've seen you around in a while. In fact I think I've read allot of your posts but so many were backlog that I'm not sure if we've actually talked which is weird be happens to me allot(so does rambling)

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

It really is one of those things that is very hard to describe... or define...
Err.... Julian Clarey would be one example I can think of... Soemtimes its everything about the person, how they talk, how they dress and how they behave/act, other times it might just be the way they talk, or somethign about the way they act/behave... For a man being camp I guess you'd stereotypically expect them to act a bit affeminate, maybe have a quite distinct type of accent/way of talking... yeh, it really is hard to describe/define....
I'm not camp, neither is Roymondo/Socket, but Roymondo's ex-housemate was extremely camp... smiley - ermsmiley - weird

Not that I've noticed. However it's more something you can spot in person rather than online.

Could we say that 'Camp' is to people/caracters what 'Kitch' is to interior decoration?

Or maybe we could try with caracters in movies...

Pim-pam-pom-who-do-I-think-is-really-camp: Harvey Fierstein as Marty Gilbert in ID4... Or is he just flamboyant?

(most parts played by Fierstein are, aren't they?)

your turn!

T.B. Falsename ACE: [stercus venio] I have learned from my mistakes, and feel I could repeat them exactly.

Yeah, I'd say JD's camp. He drinks fruitinis, for one thing.
For campness in a film, you can't beat Dom DeLuise's dancers in Blazing Saddles.

JD is definately camp.

I wouldn't say David Tennant is particularly camp, but Captain Jack definately is, as is John Barrowman himself.

You do recognise it when you see it, but it can be hard to explain it.

Would you agree that Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks" is a very camp movie altogether?
