I plan to start by collecting my own posts to begin with, logic suggests working backwards. So here goes

Ive got a feeling this is going to be rather big project.
I was thinking of picking a title, then going through and seeking out all relecant thread info, then working from that.
What you reckon?

And so it begins!
Took your suggestion of looking at the guide. The most notible edited entery i found was the one about the villians. See the other thread for details (on this page i mean)

I am proposing to work on the WWII theme
I intend to highlight
JRRT's denial of a direct link and an acknowledgement that this was not his agenda when writing.
The Social context of when the book was written
How the contemporary 'war' and its influence on his writing runs parallel to the Good vs Evil theme.
A nod to JRRT's experiences in the trenches
His sons participation in the war
Parallells between the war of the ring and WWII
All put in the context of the scope of the book and it's background mythology

I am rather reluctant to commit myself to a project of this magnitude, as my hootooing at the moment is quite irregular, to put it mildly. But I'll bookmark this entry and pop by from time to time, to see how it's coming along.
The major difficulty I see in converting the thread into several EG-worty entries, apart from organising the material, is that of balance. In the ask-thread we've all put forward our own opinions and theories, as is suitable for a discussion, but when reshaping it into entries, you'll have to be careful to include all possible views on the topics. And this is not made easier by the fact that almost every issue that came up in the thread was highly debatable. As you probably know, Luthiena has an entry in PR at the moment covering most of the "boring", non-debatable aspects of the books, leaving you all the dangerous bits.
I think you have quite a challenging task ahead of you, but if you manage to pull it off, this could make for some really interesting entries.
cheers

Yeh ive seen it, thought its a bit rough and ready for me.
Its a mammoth task i know, but you like me bistro were there pretty much through out it so i reckon its worth doing. I was thinking of quoting like other guide enteries do at points or conjecture
