Right! I have this all safely copied and pasted and am moving onto the Pets smiley - smiley I take it that I can use this for the intro to your pages and then I will get a permanent link set up for researchers to come here straight from the Post! I will try to chase the art work up... but Sporky seems rather preoccupied atm smiley - sadface If not... maybe I should have a go LOL
shazzPRME... who will sort out her obit very soon! smiley - winkeye

I'd rather this wasn't used as an intro to the serious obits. It would be more appropriate, I think, to have a seperate introduction (brief and rather neutral) introducing all three segments, which would carry the introductory I've written.smiley - smiley

Could we write other people's obituaries if we have their permission?

That's good news. I can't wait to see it.smiley - smiley

It would be nice to have a few more contributions in Pets and DIY. Maybe we could enlist Asteroid Lil as Ghost Writer... I'm cracking myself up just typing that... I love it.smiley - smiley

I don't know if I would want to take on the responsibility for ALL ghost-written obits unless it was done through questionnaires. But one does want to do right by one's modest friends...

And yet, what a wonderful job title! I covet it. Maybe I could vet submissions, especially as I am now *ahem* a sub-editor myself.

I saw the news and, to my shame, neglected to congratulate you... Well done!... and well deserved!smiley - smiley May I assume a peculiar stance and formally offer you the title of Ghost Writer?

Mmm... not keen on questionaires. I *do* fancy the notion of our Ghost Writer at large haunting the Guide in search of Researchers not looking at all well or those immodest enough to have forgotten about the hour glass, the scythe, and the gong.smiley - smiley

Thank you! I accept the position! I will check, but I don't think we have a researcher named Death. We do, however, have a Dr. John, and I understand this is a pseudonym.

It seems impolitic to enquire too closely into people's health, but perhaps some judicious advertising ... Something in the best of taste of course. Dang, listen to me getting unctuous. A whole new world of euphemisms is about to open up.

They say that undertakers (I wonder what Dr John does) always seem to be measuring you up. It's an occupational hazard, I suppose. Still, we don't want to seem ghoulish... and a successful bungy jump is more inspirational than an unsuccessful one, after all. Obits are more about life than death, in any case...and what a wealth of euphemisms to choose from!smiley - smiley

So, for Obits, you will be offering self-service (DIY) and full-service (Ghost-Written), no pun intended? I could advertise Ghost-Written obits on my home page and on the page of the art studio I am hoping to open on the beach. I am going to have a wonderful time working up the copy for this! smiley - smiley

Yep... same price for both.smiley - smiley

Ooh, the art studio on the beach is a lovely idea; a short walk to the chip shop would make it paradise. I wish you great success with that venture... and the obits, naturally.smiley - smiley
