Lavoisier Subdivision: Chemical Equivalent of DNA

I was wondering: is there a piece of software which functions like DNA, allowing posting of articles and discussion of them, which is also chemically aware? MDL's ISIS/Draw is available to anyone for private use, so it seems like a reasonable progression for this kind of software, being able to enter chemical structures and display them.

I've not seen anything that's out there for free. You can search daresbury's ISIS BASE online but you need to register and I think you'd need to be at an institution (ie. university of business) to get one.
Otherwise there's Crossfire's Beilstein commander (searchers the Beilstein and GMelin databases) and Sciinder SCholar but these are most definitely *not* free.

So there's no chemically-aware community software out there, eh? smiley - eureka

Not that I'm aware of. However, I suspect you might find that it may get frowned upon by research group leaders.
Certainly industry would not want open discussion of ongoing projects and even academics are wary of competitors nicking stuff off them (and it certainly is that cutthroat).
I guess there would be room for discussion of reaction details/experimental details and the like without the broader picture complicating things.

But within an organisation, especially one like mine, and situated behind a nice secure firewall it could find a lot of use.
