The following is a slightly-edited record of those postings:

Hello team! I'm starting a forum "newsletter" to keep everyone informed about new developments with the Rambling Misfits: additions to the roster, new rooms at Frink's Drinks, maybe even a surprise or two (????).

So just sign up in this here forum......

Letter from the editor:

Thanks everyone! If you have signed up here for the newsletter but haven't joined the softball team yet, I'd prefer if you do so here:
http://www.h2g2.com/p111844
Don't forget to tell me what position you want.

It's true, this forum thread could get way too long way too quick. Because of this, I hope I can count on everyone to only post once to this thread. I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I'd like to reserve this for misfit updates.

Sorry if I've offended. If you are itching to post some additional comments to this forum, why not do it here:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=7939&thread=25151
and then pretend you hadn't left this forum

New member update:
Everyone go say hi!

Letter From the Editor:

...the newsletter may be easier for everyone to read in the future. I had a brief conversation about the newsletter with Peta, and she told me that sometime in the future, you will be able to subscribe to forums without posting to them. When this function becomes available, I will start a much shorter forum thread that everyone can subscribe to.......

I've heard a few people wondering what exactly the newsletter is, when they will get it, and if it will be emailed to them. If you haven't guessed yet, you are reading the newsletter right now! It is this forum thread, nothing more. I wish I had the time and creativity for a more impressive newsletter, but sadly this is not the case. So what's the point?

The newsletter is going to provide you team news and updates. If you have posted to this forum (or subscribed in the future), your home page will "notify" you every time I post an update. The updates will include new team members, new rooms at Frink's Drinks, and any other information that might be useful to the entire team (I wish I had thought of this when I did the Name the Team Contest!).

This is another reason to limit your posts to this forum. Only the new subscribers (and myself, of course) should post here. This way you will know that something important (or at least mildly interesting) is going on when the forum shows up on your home page. But please feel free to chat away or advertise your own items in the topic drift forum or the clubhouse!

And finally, please say hi to tonight's new team member:
Mustapha
Thanks again for participating everyone
Letter from the editor:

Tonight I'd like to focus some attention on a few of the overlooked rooms at Frink's Drinks. In the spirit of the front page, here are the 4 most neglected rooms:
The Strategy Site
The Kitchen
The Equipment Shack
The Produce Department
I'd also like to point out that the Karaoke Korner, which was previously only accessible through the sound room, is now accessible through the lobby as well. Come join the sing-along

In other news, Cannon Fodder is looking for a nurse to help in the Medical Center. If you are interested, and especially if you don't have a secondary function with the team, you can apply here:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?thread=25260&forum=21836

Finally, I've been toying with the idea of holding a virtual softball game - we've had a team for far too long without playing a game! I've got a few ideas bouncing around, but I'll post more details here as soon as I figure out what those details are. I expect it will be an intra-squad game between the left side of the roster and the right side. (Everyone sees two sides to the roster, right? If not, please let me know in another forum!)

Once again, allow me to remind everyone NOT to post to this forum unless you haven't done so previously. Thanks everyone!
Letter From the Editor:

Lots to talk about, so let's get to it. The big news this week is the major overhaul I'm planning for Frink's Drinks. Thanks to some great advice from The Wisest Fool, I'm changing the format at the clubhouse. I had planned to make a room for each member, but I wasn't able to keep up. So now I'd like to offer everyone the opportunity to make their own room at Frink's Drinks. Just create a user page and I'll link to it from the lobby. Please head to the building department for details:
http://www.h2g2.com/P202267

Since we all love spam, I thought I'd give the team a forum dedicated to spam. Please feel free to advertise in the new Misfit Newsletter Classified Section:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?thread=26721&forum=14954

I've been thinking we should all get together for a virtual softball game, but I can't figure out how to do it. Oh, I'd also like a volunteer to run the game if anyone is interested. Let me know here:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?thread=26722&forum=14954

From the Human Resources Department:
If you're having a little trouble with your love life, you now have someone to turn to. Ex-Office Game Coordinator Jonny is now our official romance advisor. But beware - he can get kind of cynical....

Finally, go give a big "hi" to the newest Misfit:
Munchkin (our new barfly and pub quiz organizer)
As always, thanks to everyone for reading (and not posting here)
Letter from the Editor:

Hello everyone! I'd like to introduce the newest misfits:
Bumblebee
Peregrin
http://www.h2g2.com/U40382

I hate to do this to Lance Boyles, but he and I have just started a brief discussion on the future of the Misfits. Topics: the difficulty in finding your way around the hugeness that is Frink's Drinks, the virtual softball game (which Lance has generously offered to run), and if Frink should stop signing up new members. I must admit we haven't got very far into the discussion, so everyone's opinion is valued:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=7941&thread=27069

The Dancing Tree, Looneytunes, Danielt, and Irving Washington have all posted adverts in the new classified section. Perhaps it's worth a look......

Finally, four building permits have been handed out for Frink's Drinks so far. Many thanks to John-the-gardener, Danielt, Irving Washington, and kats-eyes

Have a great weekend!
Letter from the Editor:

Still interested in playing the virtual softball game? Lance Boyles, myself, and a few others have been hashing together some ideas on how we can do it. If you would like to comment on the ideas thrown out so far, we would love to hear from you here:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?forum=7941&thread=27069

Here are the recent additions to the misfits, please make them welcome
If you've been to my home page recently, you may have noticed a slight change to the roster. The first 60 Misfits have been named "the starting lineup." Everyone past that point will be "the reserves" and will be listed in a pulldown menu instead of the standard four column roster format. This is only to save space on my page - it isn't meant to be a slight against new misfits!

New rooms have been added to Frink's Drinks, courtesy of Peregrin and Bluebottle. A special thanks to Peregrin, who posted a picture of a Rambling Misfit sofball hat. Come check it out! Also come sing a tune at the karaoke korner if you haven't yet - it just made Peta's Picks

Finally, just for clarification - I won't be deleting any of the original rooms at the clubhouse, even if you want to make your own room that duplicates one of the originals. So don't worry, the bar will be open long after I'm gone.......

Special notice from the Editor:

My previous post gave a forum address for a discussion on the virtual softball game. To make things easier, Lance has created a page that will one day contain the rules of the game - for now it has a copy of our conversation regarding the rules. You can find the page here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337

Lance has a forum at the bottom of the page which you can use to give us your input. All comments are welcome!

Letter from the editor:

Hello everyone. It's been a few weeks, so here is what has been happening. First off, please welcome the new Misfits:

Mike A
http://www.h2g2.com/U96026
Baker
http://www.h2g2.com/U103323

Lance Boyles has completed the rules for the upcoming softball game, and I'd like to thank him for the job he has done so far. There still may be some minor changes, but the rules are essentially finished. Everyone is invited to take a look:
http://www.h2g2.com/a213337
There is even a sample game for you to examine, complete with nicknames! And don't forget to sign up at the yahoo h2g2 softball chatroom (where the game will probably be held):
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/h2g2softballdiamond
Once we decide on a date for the first game, I will post it here (it will probably be sometime after the new year, assuming h2g2 is y2k compliant).

Frink's Drinks news:
The original House of Relaxation has been closed (although you can still access the page if you like). The new House of Relaxation has been opened by ShazzPR, and anyone who needs a massage is welcome to visit - just follow the link in Frink's Drinks. Also, congratulations to Bluebottle, whose H2G2 Waterworks and Beach has seen a large amount of traffic the past few weeks. Stop on by for a swim, and don't listen to any rumors about a certain Baywatch star being laid to rest in the sewer.

That's all for this week. Thanks to everyone for continuing to read the newsletter - you are all appreciated

Letter From the Editor:

Hello everyone. As this will probably be my final newsletter posting for this year, I'd like to wish everyone happy holidays! Things have been a little slow with the Misfits lately, but there are a few things to report. As always we'll start with the new Misfits. Please make them feel welcome:

Luna
http://www.h2g2.com/U100567
JokerFord2000
http://www.h2g2.com/U102010

There have been two rooms added to Frink's Drinks. Mike A's Mosh Pit currently features a pic of Iron Maiden, and Jimi X has opened an Observatory that includes upcoming astronomical events and a link to a virtual planetarium. Drop in and say "hi" if you get the chance.

As mentioned previously, the rules for the softball game have been completed, but the authors have developed a small disagreement regarding one portion of the scoring system. It is a minor problem that has the potential to blow the whole system to bits. In order to reach a solution, we are going to hold a vote. Every Misfit is invited to cast his/her/its vote. Please go to the voting page for details:
http://www.h2g2.com/A228359
A reminder - the rules in their current form can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337
There is still no date for the first game, but we expect to start playing ball sometime in January.

Finally, be watching the POST newspaper during the next several weeks. There is an article about the Misfits in the works! Thanks everyone

-TVF

Letter From the Editor:

Hello everyone, Happy New Year! I'm glad to see h2g2 survived the end of the world

The main point of this posting is to remind everyone about the softball rules vote. So far only a few Misfits have cast their votes, and we appreciate those who have. For everyone else, don't miss out on your chance to affect h2g2 history! Or something like that.....

The current rules for our virtual softball game can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A213337
However, the rules aren't set in stone. Specifically, we are having trouble deciding on a scoring system for one part of the game. Please help us decide by voting. For details please visit the voting page:
http://www.h2g2.com/A228359
Thanks for your help in advance

Please give a warm and friendly welcome to the last new members for 1999 & the first new members of 2000:
Special Edition from the Editor:

Hello everyone. I try to only post items about the softball team in the newsletter, but I can't help but bend the rules a little tonight. I wanted to invite everyone to read this week's issue of the h2g2 POST, our very own newspaper. I happen to be featured in the 1-2-1 interview, and much of the interview is Misfit-related. You can find the POST at:
http://www.h2g2.com/u54963

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every Misfit for their contributions. Without your interest, the Misfits would be nothing.

Letter From the Editor:
(Super Bowl edition)
Hello everyone. I thought I'd take a few minutes away from chips, dips, footballs, and commercials, and post another edition of the newsletter.

New Misfits:
Eulogy - http://www.h2g2.com/U54082
Joanna - http://www.h2g2.com/U106694
The Fish - http://www.h2g2.com/U104490
The Cheese - http://www.h2g2.com/U100945
Joe aka Arnia - http://www.h2g2.com/U28269

Frink's Drinks news:
Pub Quiz Organizer Munchkin has organized our first pub quiz. It can be found in the bar, at the following forum thread:
http://www.h2g2.com/forumframe.cgi?thread=35374&forum=10793
Give it a try, 'cause you are sure to do better than me, and it is good practice for the (eventually) upcoming softball game. Demon Drawer has opened the Press Box and Announcer's Booth, so you can try your hand at keeping score or calling the game. The Cheese has opened the Ticket Sales Office, where you can get cheap seats for the (eventually) upcoming softball game.

Finally, let's talk about this softball game a bit. Yes, we will get around to doing it one of these days. We are just trying to build anticipation..........or something like that. At any rate, the vote on the scoring system is complete, and option number one is declared the winner by a single vote. Thanks to everyone who voted - you will be first in line to play the first game if you so desire. And thanks to Loony for running the vote! Watch this space for details as they become available.

Now back to the Super Bowl
-TVF

Letter From The Editor:

Welcome to the first February newsletter. Someday you'll look back on this and tell your kids you were here when it was posted.........

Believe it or not, we are nearly ready to almost begin to start considering playing a softball game. However, Lance Boyles has told me that he is going to be very busy over the next month or two and likely will not have time to run (umpire) the first game. We would like to know if anyone is interested in volunteering to run the first game for him. The umpire picks all the questions for the game and keeps things running smoothly. Oh, and the umpire's word is LAW (within reason, of course ). That's right, the umpire has THE POWER.

If you are interested, please let me or Lance know. Lance can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/u35954
If no one is interested, we'll just delay a while until Lance is ready to start things up.

Well, nothing much else is going on Misfit-wise, so here is a little Frink's Drinks gossip for you........
-Bluebottle has been spending time visiting most every room at Frink's Drinks, sort of like a Misfit version of Teaserman (except with much more to save)
-First Asteroid Lil broke into the Security Post just to show it could be done, and now Mike A is doing everything possible to blow it up the Security Post

Oh, how I hate when the "post message" gets in my way. And "except with much more to save" obviously should have been "except with much more to say." *sigh* To continue........

-The Cheese is looking to hire in the Ticket Sales Office:
http://www.h2g2.com/A248771
This will an important job once the games start!
-Both Madmunk and Ginger have left some unhappy and impatient customers in their rooms. It seems that no one is getting paid *or* getting their fortunes told.

Well, clearly it is time I go to bed, before I mis-post again.
-TVF

Final Letter From the Editor:

Hello everyone! I have decided to move the newsletter to a user page to make things a little easier (i hope) on everyone. The new newsletter can be found here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A265817

There you will also find an update forum that you can sign up on - it will work just like this forum, but I will only post messages there to let everyone know the newsletter has been updated. The actual newsletter will be on the user page.

I look forward to seeing you over there
