Come on! A little life here!!!!
Just heard some songs of that latest Iced Earth album. This Ripper Owens feller has got a decent voice, but he's not a patch on Matt Barlow.

Perhaps for some, but not for me.

Like Dimmu Borgir isn't cheesy.

Okay, yes, I know they are. I don't listen to them as much anymore. Right now it's mostly Nightwish, Tool, Opeth, and Isis.

Nightwish is pretty f*cking cool.

Darn right they are! "Once" is completely awesome; I need to get more of their stuff.

Yeah, Ghost Love Score is easily the best song ever written.

I disagree...for me, the first 4 songs are the best, particularly "Dark Chest of Wonders" and "Planet Hell."

Planet Hell's a great pitting song, and whenever I feel like cr*p I listen to Dark Chest of Wonders and I feel loads better. But if you listen to Ghost Love Score a couple of times, the sheer genius gets through to you. It's AWESOME.

I do agree, it is a good song, but usually I don't have the patience for all 10 minutes of it.
Anything else good you've picked up/heard recently?

I heard the Children of Bodom cover of Aces High the other day. It's a scream.

Ah, yes, I have that song. Not bad, though I've never heard the original. The only thing I don't like is how the beginning drags on and on...

The original totally kicks *ss. As does almost every single song Iron Maiden has ever made.

Perhaps you're being generous...but for the most part, Maiden is a pretty decent band; I like most of their stuff. Not one of my favorites though.

I don't know a single Maiden song that I don't like.

Hm...there aren't any I hate, except "Quest for Fire", but there are a lot that are just average. But, there's an equal amount of good ones too, I will give you that.
But they don't beat Tool.

Don't know any Tool. But as far as Maiden is concerned, I think all their songs are good, except a few, wich are god-awesome. I'm downloading Priest songs ATM.

If you're a Maiden/Priest fan, Tool probably isn't your style, but everyone should check them out at least once just to try...
