Okay, nothing yet? Somebody just cheat it up. C'mon!

"Death to the demoness Allegra Geller!"
Anything, yet?

"Death to eXistenZ!"

How about now?

Grr. Nevermind. Rent it. It's a good mindf**k of a movie.

Haikeeba! All you, man.

Play something the drummer knows.

HAIKEEBA!

smiley - biggrinSo the movie was "eXistenZ"smiley - biggrin
I got it so I'm posting next quote in order to avoid chick-flickedness.smiley - tongueout

This one should be slightly more recognizable and if not...well, you should see this movie. It's a trip...part movie adaptation of an unfilmable book, part biography, part history. !smiley - erm! (I KNOW you already know it Nuke, but while we're on the subject...) This movie impresses me very much, like Gilliam's "Fear and Loathing"
The quotes alone should make you curious enough to see it. (Same with eXistenZ though.)

*Ahem...

"If you look carefully at my lips, you'll realize that I'm actually saying something else. I'm not actually telling you about the several ways I'm gradually murdering Joan."

And today's BONUS 2-for-1 SALE!!!!

"Exterminate all rational thought. That is the conclusion I have come to."

From Amsterdam, where I'm looking after 4 cats,it was not easy to find my way to the lounge!
I almost know the answer...........
I have to buy some fish for the cats' lunch. Or do we catch them ourselves?
But first a smiley - bubbly

Okay...

"America is not a young land. It is old and dirty, evil. Before the settlers, before the Indians, the evil is there, waiting."

"What do you mean, 'it's a literary high'?"
"It's a Kafka high. You feel like a bug."

No idea... but you're right, it IS intriguing. smiley - smiley *Awaits the answer so she could add the movie to the I-Really-Gotta-Watch-This-Sometime List*

HAIKEEBA!

BIG QUOTE CLOSEOUT:

smiley - stiffdrinkX2

"No American should find himself in a foreign land without a pistol."

"Say, Bill. Would you rub some of this powder on my lips?"

"Now, repeat after me: "Homosexuality is the best all-round cover an agent ever."

"I probably just threw it to the ground and smashed it."
"Probably?"
"I suffer from...spuratic...hallucinations..."

HAIKEEBA!

smiley - yikes

Okay okay...

The movie was David Cronenberg's "Naked Lunch"
Based on the novel by William S. Burroughs and mixed with biographical material about Burroughs and the beat generation. Very wierd, very trippy, very well done for an unfilmable-book film.

Hmmm...smiley - erm

Well, okay Jay, since you haven't pushed me off of the swings lately you can go ahead and quote a chick flick at us.

smiley - ghost Ooh, had to sign back in for that one! smiley - boing

Funny, I've only watched Thelma & Louise for the first time not long ago - we were asked to for one of my courses, because we were studying Feminist Theories (don't like them too much myself, but we had to study them all the same).
I have to tell you, watching this movie while constantly thinking about what Feminist Theories would have to say about it is... um, interesting. smiley - erm

YAY!!! Thanks Jay, that was a good choice. smiley - biggrin

(Oh, and this is not a chick-flick, by the way)

Lounge Forty-Two

Lounge Forty-Two

Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary]

smiley - ermActually, I've never been to Kansas at all... and the movie is definitely not the Wizard of Oz (though I suppose you could find similarities, if you're looking for them).

Two more quotes:

1)
'Let me see your eyes... whoa, black basketballs!'

2)
(This one's for you, Nuke smiley - tongueout)

- 'Are you an a**hole, soldier?!'
- 'No sir!!'
- 'That's too bad... 'cause I am. *laughs*'
