Surely learning a second language is a good move , but learning a language is hard work , so there needs to be some very good practical reason for doing so.
Being born and bred in England i lament the lack of enthusiasm for learning languages in this country but understand, as an island nation we have not felt the need to , which i hope will change in the future.
It can only be a good thing being able to communicate with each other with the same language ; as long as we can communicate our friendship .
I am just about able to effectively communicate in my native language , and am ahamed to say i cannot speak another fluently ( or even badly ) , and like i said before i hope that will change in the future.
