Jackass The Movie
Created | Updated Feb 10, 2004
Jackass really needs no introduction. The MTV collection of adults who really don’t want to grow up, from Los Angeles and New England, take they’re own styles of idiocy and pranks to the big screen. Leader of the gang Johnny Knoxville isn't exactly known for cultivating high-brow humor with his MTV pranksters, but that isn’t the point. From the simple slapstick of Laurel and Hardy to maybe the more recent work of the Farrelly brothers, there’s a more basic part of the brain that can’t help but find idiots fooling around and causing themselves, sometimes quite considerable pain, amusing. Jackass isn’t clever, but it is funny. People can turn they’re nose up at such low brow stupidity, but this is just stupid kids humor for big kids. The only problem is when kids see this movie, and don’t see the boundary between the screen and real life. A greater problem maybe of Americana culture? But still Jackass offers and hour and a half of senseless fun, watching people who you don’t respect, but you know can make you react in some way, be it laugh out loud or scream in disgust.
A seamless transfer from small screen to big screen. Go on, give in to the idiot inside you. 7/10
