Yes, I did click on them all. I shouldn't have enough free time to do it, but ya know... And integrating endlessly isn't all that fun. (That's maths for anyone who doesn't know).

Even getting into the h2g2 info list can't be that hard because I was rather surprised to find myself listed near the top of the longest postings earlier today. I thought I had been quite restrained and brief. So with an average of about 520 they have to be counting individual characters rather than words! However, I would still have thought there are many researchers who are far more frequent and verbose posters than I am. Maybe it just depends on the day/time. Yesterday I was trying to get round to saying hello to at least some of the huge stack of newbies that was piling up while all the ACEs were apparently out partying in real life. I suppose a few of those could have been ACEs in disguise though! Of course that was also when my computer monitor decided to break down...

OK, this one works with the spaces!
x=203385;while(1){document.write("U"+x+" ");x=x+4294967296;}

Can I advise making a huge bonfire in your garden and throw all your maths books in it?
%20 is the code for a space, the quotes need to be round it because it is a string. Without the " " bit they would all run together.

oh, i should have said, browsers change all spaces in URLs to %20, so it doesn't matter what you actually type.

The bit of code I posted worked for me ... the last one you posted in my browser treated "%20" not as the code for the space but as the actual text "%20" so printed U....%20U....%20 and so on.

This is the cheats way of getting *really* big numbers:
U42949672960000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000032077
And knowing my luck it won't work...

It didn't even convert that last one into a clickable link!
By the way, I'm using IE6 and I didn't paste it into the address bar, I created a blank HTM file with that as its code.

Perhaps I should "yikes" some of your long number/word posts and get the moderators to remove them as they are rather antisocially affecting all the other posts on the page. This causes me particular difficulties at the moment with all the scroll-bars I'm already having to use. I'm getting so confused in my small box that I keep pressing the wrong ones - or ones which haven't even finished loading yet
Of course the obvious solution is to leave h2g2 altogether until I can get my proper HW fixed. Now how likely is that...

Feel free to yikes them, I'm sorry about that. Last time I yikesed such a post the mods didn't edit it, apparently its our fault and we should learn by our mistakes...

I had no choice, the only way I could test it was to muck up the width.
If we post a couple more things we will get a new page.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
