What better place than this stunted conversation thread of confusing and veiled ambiguities to state clearly and plainly and precisely that your article has shamed me out of a growing pessimism. 
As a direct result of your inspirational message I have initiated yet another cycle of faith in mankind and optimism for the future. It won't last. Nothing does. None of us will... Oh.. sorry. Bit of momentary relapse there.

Thank you for the kind words. My optimism is also pretty fragile and needs regular encouragement, particularly during these gloomy months when you Canadians insist on sharing your cold weather with us. 
On the other hand, the good thing about pessimism is that the world is always turning out better than you'd feared.
Hm - optimism about pessimism...
