Lies

Lies are basically statements that are untrue. If you are lying to someone you are trying to convince that person into believing something that is simply not true. By old standards we are thaught from childhood that tis kind of behavior is bad, and people must therefore justify their lies to themselves in some way. This is silly, because it forces the lying person to lie even to himself.
Some ways of justifying lies to oneself is to:
* think that the lie was very small
* think that you lied for the fooled persons own best
* think that the lie couldn't possibly hurt anyone (white lie)
* think that the fooled person had it coming
* think that not telling the whole truth is not really lying
there are more ways of course.
Lies can be very usefull and effective if you use them carefully, but the risk of getting caught with a lie is worth counting in. People in general don't like being lied to and this could cause problems. Lying also weakens your moral and your ability of empathy, since you have to ignore when other people get hurt because of your lies in order to survive emotionally.
