Blimey. How the hell did you get such a great entry together so quickly? Anyway, I know a lot more than I did, and I laughed. 'Nuff said.

Though the h2g2 reference could do with being defined. I can't place it myself, but if there's one place you're going to get a definitive reference it should be here.

Nicely done.
In 'From The Drawing Board'
It's Queen Elizabeth' not Elizibeth.
In 'Two Big Bangs'
Greycait renamed it, not reamed (reaming a building brings about a whole different image than renaming...)
T-shirt imminent I suspect

I think the layout is a little strange. It's about Tower 42, but nearly straight away you are writing about other buildings. Could that be put lower down in the entry?
"It was allowed to be so tall because the developers had combined the air rights for the building with that for the next-door site."
Could you explain 'air rights'? It's not really clear what that is.
I had heard that it was built using lasers as it was so straight, also I think that an automatic window washing device was invented just for this building.

updated.
I think you are right about the window cleaning thing, but I can't find a reference online atm.
Also trying to figure out what is currently the tallest cantilevered building in the world. if you google for it, you can find loads of sites saying that tower 42 used to be it, but none saying what is now!
You think somebody would want to boast!

I'll sneak up to my dad's house tomorrow and 'borrow' one of his reference books to see if I can find out. It's not that modern though, so it might be time to visit a library and get some books outs.

Interesting, jon, but it leaves several questions:
>>As the face of banking changed, after the 'Big Bang', the limited floor space that the Natwest Tower provided was hindering the company's performance<<
You don't explain what the Big Bang was. It doesn't sound as if it was a bomb, like the second bang you mention.
You say the view from the top reaches for about 50 km. You don't mention whether there is a visitors platform, do you have to pay to go up there, where abouts are the two restaurants located, is it worth visiting them, are they pricey, etc.

I can see why it's there, but the comparison with increased soccer transfer fees, during a similar period, seems a touch incongruous to me...
